Here is the bridegroom!

oillamp.jpgHad a bit of a light-bulb moment just now. In Jesus' illustration of the 10 virgins, the call comes in the middle of the night, a loud shout, saying: ‘Here is the bridegroom! Go out to meet him.’

What form will this declaration take? Since the call comes in the middle of the night, when thieves are on the prowl, the startling notice that the bridegroom is here must coincide with their saying "peace and security," which, of course, is an immediate prelude to the day of the Lord coming as suddenly as a thief in the night. The fact that Paul said we would not be overtaken as thieves only applies to the true sons, whom Paul called sons of day and sons of light. The GB and the WT will not have any control over it since whenever they say "peace and security" will be plainly evident for all and will not need to be interpreted or explained to the sons of light. In fact, those who look to the WT for life-saving directions will find that their oil lamps have flickered out and they will be locked out of the wedding feast.

God has set it up so that only those who belong to Christ will know the way out to meet the Lord.

Absolutely bang on! Thank you for sharing that with us. I really want to thank you for sharing the connections you find in the Bible with us. I would probably have become disillusioned with God and religion thanks to WT if I hadn’t found your website.

I too have to agree with what you have said here, Robert,I wrote here on one of my comments , that I feel like Jehovah has something in mind
for the remanent here on earth still. I have a very distinct feeling that it is inline with Revelation , something to do with the final witness, before our enemies attack us prior to our upward call, how and when and what is unknown as of yet. But I keep asking Jehovah,
what is it ? We will see and he will show us , we just need to be alert and on the watch

Apparently the GB are waiting to be told to go somewhere. An older JW woman asked me if I knew what a Go bag was. I guess that is what they are waiting on now. Makes sense they would want to be current on vaccinations.
my take on this is that they are giving a false sense of security to the brothers , they have always spoken about emergency preparedness, usually for a 72 hour period , being in a go bag, my family has this very thing ready, but more recently they spoke of having enough for about 3 months...this was a bit alarming , while I do have a three month stash of food , and other things, I did this because of listening to the so called conspiracy website information sites,,,long before the GB said to.
Perhaps in doing this , they also know the plans of the UN an globalist cabal that they seem pretty influenced by. What it means or if there is any agenda to it remains to be seen, but it has been encouraged for about one year I believe.

here is something else , the account of the bridegroom is preceded by the illustration of the faithful and evil slave, and the end was their being judged by the master, chapter 25 of Matthew then begins with the word "Then" the kingdom of the heavens will become like......" Would it be wrong to assume the two events are closely linked? First the evil slave is judged for beating his brothers and then the faithful ones are encouraged to be ready spiritually for the bridegrooms arrival, being fully awake , we do not want to miss the opportunity by what is happening around us or the lateness of his arrival, at least in our minds he is seemingly late? Is this basically what you are saying?

Recently during the meeting they said you need to have a “reasonable amount“ of food. But what is a reasonable amount? 3 days is what the UN advises for a local disaster, as is the “go bag”.

3 days for a natural disaster is probably enough if you are careful and wise with its use. But under the current situation , a very real food shortage is coming especially in the west, if your in the USA , I believe you better brace yourself, but all of us do no matter where we live, it is said there is only enough food to feed the planet for 90 days...thus giving time for new growth , and with what has happened to the farms, cattle and food supply companies lately , I doubt 3 months will be enough...if you have this amount get ready to apportion it so as to make it last longer if you cannot afford to purchase more.

We’ve been prepping for a couple of years now. We probably have enough to comfortably make through 6 months, but if we ration it will last a lot longer. I know things are bad in the US. I live in Holland. We had a shortage of sunflower oil recently when the war in Ukraine started but that was nonsense cause we get our sunflower oil from France and Spain. But you do see more and more items with a limitation of how much you can buy.

Everything you really need has gone up in price considerably. I’m glad I have 2 years left on my energy contract cause gas and electricity prices are going through the roof. Petrol is $11 a gallon here and rising. I read that this coming winter 1 in 6 people in Germany will have to choose between heating their house or having a meal. And the sad thing is that people here are pushing others to turn down the heater cause that will really teach Russia! (It’s summer here now). It’s just sad that people can’t see what is happening. They see full shelves so nothing to worry about. Not realising that we’re now eating last year’s crops and the crops are failing this year cause of lack of fertiliser.

I have never been able to resolve in my mind the conundrum to prepare for physical need and to trust in Jehovah. The tribulation is going to last far longer than any foodstuffs we may buy - unless one is considering stocking up on 1150 cans of beans and hoping no one will take them, or that they can carry them. The day must come when we have no alternative in survival, than to trust in Jehovah. Should we only trust in Him to provide when we have nothing? It is not a question of availability, but of procurement when the storm breaks. There will be rationing, then mobs, then breakdown followed by anarchy, followed by mob rule. Is it wrong to assume we will be fed and watered as were those faithful Israelites. They asked the question “Were we delivered from our masters simply to die in the desert?” At what juncture do we divide between the practicable provision for self and the strength and reliance upon faith. Is saying, “ I will depend on Jehovah“ a folly? Is buying in foodstuffs for x amount of days prudence and is this the primary issue of the foolish virgins, or do we understand that incorrectly to salve our consciences in preserving our own lives. After all, the Context is faith, not food. Is the “go-bag” scenario, really then, just a failsafe against commitment to faith - then why Is the advice to “not go back down from the roof to fetch outer clothing…” at the time of crisis? Surely, the last thing that the faithful and discreet Christian would do is to put body before faith? I find it very difficult to rationalise food against faith, when every fibre in my body says ‘survive’. Then, just to add more, “He who looses his life for my sake, will gain life.” So the very thing we need, is not food, but faith…so why the “go bag”? The example in my mind is that of the Jews, taking all their food and possessions with them (what there was of it) to the death camps, only to be murdered as soon as they got off the train. There seems to be a lesson in there somewhere.

Didn’t Joseph had to explain the dreams to Pharaoh about 7 years of plenty and 7 years of shortages. What did Pharaoh had to do? Prepare while there was still plenty.

Jehovah tells us there’s going to be famine. Don’t we have to prepare knowing this? Yeah, it won’t last us the whole ride, maybe the shelves won’t be completely empty. What we buy now, may be a luxury item in the near future. If I hear they’re paying $12 for 10 eggs in the States, I’m glad I’ve got egg powder in my pantry.

weird. but yes you’re absolutely right, they are expecting to go somewhere. But where?

I know a sister that thinks she’s going to camp through the GT as in some campsite in the woods, perhaps. And with a tent and a go-bag, maybe a couple fishing poles.

I don't think it is a matter of not having faith, we can simply do what we can to prepare to whatever extent is possible in a practical way. This is what proverbs indicates is practical wisdom and discreet to see a calamity and prepare , rather than just suffer the consequences. But to your point of faith in Jehovah's ability to provide, well what is there he cannot do? If he provided for Elijah by a raven bringing food , can he not have the birds of heaven provide in our time..really its not a question of will he or won't he....he can and will do according to his will. I know some at times feel this is like a cop out , but it is not. We have been told in Revelation 6 and Matthew 24 about the climate or happenings during this time and there was no guarantee to any servants of Jah of survival by miraculous help, famine, war, pestilences befall us all, this is the result of our (Adam and Eve's ) rebellion , we as a human race chose to leave Jehovah ....and now the consequences are here and very real....we have no guarantee of divine protection until the great tribulation and battle of Armageddon....the great crowd will be the survivors at that time, some of us may indeed die from and during the ride of the 4 horsemen , but our hope and trust is in Jehovah's Saving power by means of the resurrection.
Think of Revelation 6:9-12 Jesus brothers have to die to receive the reward and some will die as the others died , giving a witness....we have as Jesus said faith " that Jehovah is a God of the living and not the dead , as they are all living to him" as will we. Our test will be in as you said how do we conduct ourselves at that time , when our physical flesh is yearning , yes , desperate for the physical needs. Like our Lord and Master , we must subject our flesh to submission to our spiritual life and live. Jesus did not turn the stone to bread , his flesh most likely craved , yes demanded him to do so , otherwise , what kind of test would that have been? So our salvation , however Jehovah makes the way out, will be as you said a direct relation to our faith in his promise of the resurrection, and our spiritual life , not to food or any other physical means.
Just my thought on this anyway....love to hear back from you all.

it’s not quite that bad where i live (Pacific Northwest) yet. I also live near a lot of small farms, hoping to glean something, and forage too.
I have a lot of dandelions to eat....lol...here in Canada and especially in Alberta they are rampant , and I have made a few treats with them , they are an excellent source of food and many don't think so..

When do we put our full faith in Jehovahs' ability to take care of us? Sorry I'm confused. I don't have a to go bag because I'm afraid someone will clobber me and take it away. If I have a basement full of food how do I protect it from thieves that will break in? What are your thoughts? I have read all of the information on here about what to have stored up for the future but what happens if the hungry mob kicks me out of my house? I Have been begging Jehovah for more faith to deal with the hard times ahead.

I posted just now a thought let me know what you think. Remember preparation is not a substitute for faith , but practical wisdom is necessary in this time...there are no guarantees , your right , if someone found out you had food and they none , you may have an issue to deal with. But remember , we must first do all we can to protect ourselves by practical steps and after that we have to let Jehovah do the rest, but that being said, we may need to have faith in the resurrection...which isn't a bad thing , we get to sleep a second or so and then wake up to a life without violence and worries. Faith requires courage, remember the three hebrews and Daniel in the lions pit, the singers send out before the Israelite army , they were the first ones on the battle line , not the soldiers....imagine the courage ....or what about Gideon and his three hundred men..smashing water jars and holding up torches...they could have assumed the worst ..but courage fortified their faith and the won ...in each and every instance....we will win in each and every instance by our faith in the end result of salvation , not the path there.

Yes! You’re right. They did save up grain. I didn’t think of that. Yet now you raise it, how do we equate the contrary advice about not going back for things and in faith that all our needs will may be met? This is what confuses me.
