Chapter 1 - The Truth

Here is a link to the full chapter both for reading and audio: https://jehovah-is-king.com/truth/

I wanted to start a separate thread on each chapter of Robert King’s book, Jehovah Himself Has Become King because I am re-reading it and I am hoping that all of the brothers and sisters on this forum will enjoy meditating on the information as much as I do. I hope you each make a comment as what may encourage you by reading this chapter.

The first thing I noticed is that Robert King pointed out that it was roughly 2,000 years from Jehovah’s covenant with Abraham to when Jesus announced “The Kingdom of the heavens has drawn near!” (Matthew 4:17). I found it interesting that Jesus was the first one recorded to have used that exact phrase and it is stated that way solely in the book of Matthew but on many occasions. Today we look forward to the sealing of the anointed the subsequent “revealing of the sons of God” (Romans 8:19) and it has now also been about 2,000 years from the time that Jesus made his statement about the kingdom to today. Here is a quote from Robert King’s book that I found very interesting.

”The advent of the kingdom of God, which originally manifested itself in the form of Christ’s apostolic congregation, marked the beginning of the end for the temple-centered Jewish form of worship.”

It seems from my way of thinking that the Jewish system as a tutor should have focused people’s attention on sin, the need for repentance and a Savior. Christianity seems very focused on developing love for Jehovah, his son and our fellow man. To the point that Jesus even said love among themselves would identify true christians. That has me wondering what the next focus will be. Will it be a focus on truth and speaking honestly with each other? That seems to be something this dying system of Satan is well known to be lacking. Lying and deceit seems to be extremely prevalent. Anyway, just a thought.

Here is another quote from Robert’s book that I have noted.

“Contrary to what one might have expected, the very system that God had originally provided as a life-saving tutor leading to Christ was also a potential snare to the Jews who did not have the faith to make the complete transition from Judaism to Christianity.”

Let us all keep our faith alive and don’t succumb to a lack of faith.

The "New System" is exactly that, completely new. Christianity, will be done away with and be no more, as amazing as that seems . We are at the beginning of that next transition right now, quite like what the Jews were facing in Jesus' day. So like you said, that is why faith is so vital, along with a very strong relationship with Jehovah and Jesus. Great review and thank you for your post @Driven

I haven't read it in a while either and forget a lot of stuff. So, this is good. I think I might re-read it too. I just wish the WT had not pulled the rug out from under me by revising the NWT and dropping "himself." So now all the scriptures say Jehovah Has Become King. Personally, I like the emphatic Jehovah Himself Has Become King.

Another point from the first chapter that I appreciate is that the apostles and first century christians had a lot of false expectations. They had no problem with being corrected as King Josiah also showed a willingness to be corrected based on scripture. No doubt we all have had and likely still have wrong expectations but the humility to accept correction is key.

The Watchtower has the proverbial cart before the horse. The 1914 doctrine makes the coming of Christ anticlimactic. Fixing the Watchtower's mess, though, is easy. Simply shift the beginning of the time of the end to the future and everything falls into place. Of course, the leadership of Jehovah's Witnesses would never consent to that because that would mean that Jesus' coming will result in a massive shake-out and humbling ordeal. But isn't that exactly what is needed? Those who claim to be in the truth will have to prove it when everything gets turned upside down. Shouldn't be too much longer.

I think I will take this opportunity to comment on the latest Caleb and Sofia video, because the irony in that video is hilarious...

OK, I finally found exerts from it, apparently it hasn't been released yet. It's from the Annual meeting and it's Lesson 47 "Who should be my friend"
In it they have a "scene" from Jesus day, where three women are drawing water from a well one of whom is Martha and they get in a discussion about Jesus. One of the Jewish women, is skeptical about Jesus, WHY? Because of what the Pharisees say about him. "I've heard a lot of talk" she says, "The Pharisees in Jerusalem, they don't approve of that man. I am not sure it's such a good for you to be known as his friend."

Now just replace that with "The GB in Warwick don't approve of_________," (fill in the blank). ROFLOL I find the lack of self awareness stunning.
It's exactly the same today. The expectations made up by man just repeating itself by means of the GB. The same thing had happened when Jesus came to the earth. And now today, men have it all figured out just like the Pharisees.

Come on Nomex, this is not the thread for it. I was just about to comment that this is the best thread ever.
Did you not read my comment, and that I was replying to Driven's observation, that Christ's apostles had a lot of false expectations? Why did they have those expectations? In part the teachings of the religious leaders. So the same is true today. To go even further as I was reading his book, I realized that this was the very thig that had happened with the GB and that realization has been a huge comfort for me. And to take it a second step further, I would argue that's why RK wrote the book in the first place. So my comment was not on the "Caleb and Sofia" video but one small portion of it that I quoted!

I read some of the book. About the harvest and the UN partnership. I thought you made that up? "Jehovah himself has become King" I started from chapter 1, yesterday as I listened to the audio.

"Jehovah himself has become King" Ps 97:1. I read the black bible 4 times cover to cover just not too long ago, but I don't recall that phrase. Would be a bit hard to forget now that it is the title to Brother King's book.

Curious to know if those who have read the book, or are reading the book notices any themes ( I spotted a couple in the first chapter ), that R,K repeats. If you can see anything, you will know without realizing it that whatever it is will be part, or become part of your psyche. I'll leave it there, because I'm not too sure how to explain what I mean.

The harmony in parallel with King Josiah is phenomenal. One thing that I have not been able to figure out is this: Was "the prophetess Huldah" really speaking from Jehovah? (2Chron34:22, 2Kings22:14) I ask because the way it reads is more like it was a sorcerer or spirit medium they went to. When prophets were sent the accounts usually explain how the 'word of Jehovah occurred to me' and 'tell the house of Israel the word of Jehovah is'. Do we know that Huldah actually spoke for Jehovah? I think there were always prophets that spoke lies the whole time right? It reminds me of King Saul going to a spirit medium when Jehovah was not talking to him anymore.

Didn't she suggest he'd live a long life yet he died before age 40 a violent non peaceful death.

Ok, now that's interesting. I want that book!
