2022 Convention Drama

Has anyone seen the drama where a black sister accosts a white sister in a parking lot, as she is getting out of her car- a supposed chance encounter- the accosting sister says something like: I’m so glad i ran into you, i’ve been meaning to talk to you about something . . .

She goes on to excoriate this poor, flustered white sister about boasting and bragging on her social media about her jewelry business and merchandise. How it’s unChristian of her to speak highly of, i guess, things she is trying to sell. The white sister tells her to piss off, calls her some explitive, then tells her to mind her own business, and walks away.

Enter Ken Cook- he describes the white sister as having and i quote “uncontrollable anger”; he then lectures viewers about anger, cites some scriptures and then regales viewers some more with some personal insight about anger being bad for your health. (it could causing a blood clot in the brain- i jokes)

The drama rolls on, but this time the white sister submits to the black sister’s excoriation, she cowers in subjection and promises to do better.

Ken Cook comes back on and praises her for her ability to take the finger wagging judgment lecture like a true Christian should.

So, this watered down milk is spiritual food at the proper time, now is it? Encouraging JWs that they are not just entitled, but it is their duty to barge in, accost, butt in and correct the thoughts and actions of others, not even, as elders love to say, “having all the facts”?

I wonder how much of this will lead to the prophetic fulfillment of Matt 24v10. Is that the intention, perhaps?

I can’t imagine how this convention drama will possibly play out in the real world.

Unbelievable. And such dramatic music to heighten the tension. The jewelry sister really did blow it though. Instead of going off in anger, she should have calmly counseled the black sister about gossiping and meddling in other people's affairs. She could have calmly, tactfully and lovingly told the sister to mind her own business.

i think she did mention something about gossip, as a third and then fourth party were dragged into the fray by name to wit: both Johnny and Betsy agreed with me that you are boasting. . . But by then, according to Cook, the sister was in full blown “uncontrollable anger”.

I didn’t see it. If what was depicted is uncontrollable anger. . . I suppose JWs will be stumbled all over the place when they really encounter it.

Nothing about this convention prepares JWs for what lies ahead. Instead, the Gov Body sees fit to fill eight hours a day for three days with what they perceive is wrong with JWs, and how JWs can better serve this Body of MEN in expensive suits.

Yeah, its ridiculous. Out of touch with reality. This is a perfect example what happens when pioneers spend too much time together in car groups etc though. There are always a few insecure gossipers who can't stay out of other peoples business and constantly stir up trouble knit picking about what others are doing or not doing. Why isnt the lesson to mind your own business and stay out of others affairs? That should have been the real issue here.

@Jah-son

I completely agree. And here you have the Gov Body encouraging such invasive, petty behavior.

And they go so far as to vilify the one saying “mind your own business” as some sort of enraged monster.

It just shows the total lack of spiritual sight of this organization. It has no direction. It flailing in a collapsing world and pushing JWs straight into the arms of the Eighth King. SHAME.

I had a brother confront me about taking business away from him. I told him, "I didn't take the account, you lost it." And he went on the lecture me about "being brothers" So I said, "Well, would you rather a worldly person have the account or a brother?" He said, "a brother" I said "Ok then, you lost it to a brother." And he came back again with "but we are brothers" and I said again, "but you lost the account" then finally I said this, "I know what, why don't you just do a good job and you won't have to worry about losing accounts. Oh, I know why, cause you can't." Oh, and he brought his partner with him thinking he was going to gang up on me...LOL. He walked off saying "I can't believe you're a brother." I said, "I can't believe you're a brother." I also told him one of the accounts he'd lost to me told me he'd offered them a bribe. He said "well I didn't." I then told him, "I'm just telling you what people are saying about you." Now if Ken Cook could have recorded that exchange he probably could have used it as an example uncontrollable anger, except I didn't knock his big partner out like he deserved, so even then I controlled myself.

These people are such hypocrites. This guys makes 5 times what I make and does 5 times worse work. Oh and the account I "took" he had a worldly guy working the account, so I actually "took" it from his worldly employee! And the guy who hired me begged me to come in there.

yep, @Nomex what you are describing here is a brother exploiting, or trying to, your association for his lack of business acumen. If the situation were reversed, you would have to suck it up. You can’t win with people like this- it’s six or a one half a dozen- anyway you look at it, you lose.

Once this brother, an elder not in my hall, took his car to our shop for a service- it was éxpensive as he didn’t want after market parts installed in his most prized earthy possession. The invoice was over $600. He showed up to pick up his car and paid my husband with a fifth of singel malt scotch. My husband was outraged. He came home with the scotch, opened it, and we drank half the bottle and ended up getting in a huge drunken fight.

I ran into the elder at a circuit assembly some months later and i told him- i said hey- do you remember when you took your car in for a service and paid my husband with a fifth of scotch? Well, we got real sh**-faced that night, and fought all night long over you not paying in cash, which is what we actually needed. Of course i was the one who was out of line- elders ever anon. I don’t know if he went back and paid. He may have.

I rarely got in any trouble for my outspokenness. For the most part, the elders really didn’t know what to do with me. I think they needed to maintain my position in the congregation so they had a place to take their cars for repairs for dirt cheap. I was a hot potato- here, you deal with her as they passed me off to someone else. Most of the digs from the platform flew squarely over my head. Toward the end, i mostly played Tetras during the meetings- before we transitioned to Zoom- i was dabbling in kinesthetic learning. teeeheeee

@Watchman
No, they couldn’t do it that way because it wouldn’t have had the same affect on the JW’s that they wanted!

They want to make those who may have uncontrollable anger feel humiliated and cower in subjection to whoever corrects her and to
make them aware that they need to do better.

In other words, listen and obey the GB and you will be blessed. 😉

Your outspokenness is what makes you you! Your comments are insightful and to the point and that’s what I love about you sister!
Not to mention your humor…😂

I wish you could’ve been in my congregation back in the day. 😁

I raced to see this with the expectation of it being bad and Brother Cook stirring it the wrong way. I thought it was fine and most JWs will recognize that the black sister was way out of line. You’re sympathetic to the white sister when she broke the phone, your sympathetic again when she asks to talk about it a later time and it’s a flashing red light the black sister ignores that request. I think most all JWs will be on the side of the white sister that she is being wronged. It paralleled what they said about Simeon and Levi, they were wronged but over reacted in their response. The white sisters reaction was excessive and counter productive. Cook said if you were tense you’re aware of what uncontrolled anger can lead to. People on this forum might have a heightened awareness that what the white sister was saying was factually correct (and it would be wrong to convince the audience otherwise)but I think the point that they were REALLY trying to make was she was unspooling … it’s true that the danger in those situations is how far it can go once the restraint starts slipping. About 15 years ago there was a drama where the witness kids were really talking back in a way that was surprising because i couldn’t ever remember such being depicted but it had a refreshing honesty about it. I think many people can relate to the white sister and that they wrote in the script her line ‘are you so lonely that…’ was similarly refreshing because it will allow some who were on the receiving end to live vicariously with what they wanted to say while also putting on notice those who were getting too much into other peoples business. The very kind don’t forget the eggs intro is telling the audience and purposely setting the stage that there is nothing wrong with our sister so it is implied the other group was probably in too deep. I think Most will understand it correctly and only a sad minority will consider the black sister a role model.

@A B so why do you think that Watchtower is teaching JWs about anger issues? After all these years, have not JWs progressed past the point of milk and onto solid food? Re-teaching with illustrations and expensive dramatic video productions that angry outbursts are fruits of the flesh, and are harmful, is the milk of milk doctrines- at what point willl Watchtower advance JWs onto the more mature doctrines of the deep things of God?

It seems that JWs are in a spiritual regression, a less developed state, as the Gov Body is incapable of teaching the deep things of God, its prophetic exegesis going from bad to worse to simply non-existent.

Recall, the Feb 1 2017 study edition of the WT said that the Gov Body is neither inspired nor infallible and at times it errs in doctrinal matters or in organizational direction. Yet it remained silent on matters of prophetic interpretation, the very concern where this body errs the most, and where JWs are lacking in knowledge and preparation the most, esp in this critical burgeoning phase of the collpase of this system, and the concurrent fulfillment of Revelation chapter six.

Why is this the case?

The whole world is regressing and it wants to pull us all backwards. Plus there are some new ones added and younger ones grow up and start to encounter these situations.

I've had that happen to me as well and it always happened while I was at my poorest.

Eze 34:10
This is what the Sovereign Lord Jehovah says: ‘I am against the shepherds, and I will demand an accounting of them for my sheep,* and I will dismiss them from feeding* my sheep,h and the shepherds will no longer feed themselves. I will rescue my sheep from their mouth, and they will no longer be food for them.’”

Maybe it's nothing and not connected but, Klaus Schwab said more than once that this would become an angry planet. His specific words. First, how would he know that? Angry from something in the injections? Frustration at our governments giving into the NWO? Or demonic influence?
Precisely. My immediate thoughts BB “We have to be prepared for a more angry world “ Why? Because he and his fellow psychopaths know they are the ones who will cause this, are causing this and take great delight in these negative emotions of the cattle. How they hate us so.

So the Gov Body takes orders from Schwab now? Sounds about right. I mean, JWs are lining up en masse for the shots. Why? Because the Gov Body said so. And who else said so? Klaus Schwab, Joe Biden, the CDC and the WHO.

Well, they won’t be listening to Schwab directly but they listen to the American government cause they think if the cosy up to the authorities they will have protection.
And who does the American government listen to? Uncle Klaus.

Again: you can’t obey your way out of tyranny and WT just doesn’t seem to grasp this concept.
