2022 JW Convention

The 2022 convention is now online. I downloaded one segment and will try to plow through it over the course of time. Who knows, there might be something encouraging for someone. Seems strange though, to keep calling it a "convention" given that a convention typically involves people convening. The first observation is the weirdness of the opening part given by a GB speaker (Lett) wearing a convention name tag. What is the point of wearing a convention lapel card when you are standing alone in a recording studio? Seems kind of creepy.

This was one of the things we commented on when this first started. Our congregation would "meet" on Zoom before the convention and people in our congregation where sitting in their living rooms wearing lapel badges. Total cult like behavior, and completely absurd. We were laughing and making fun of it right at the beginning. People we taking pictures and putting it on Social media with lapel badges also.

I stopped reading their latest info in the WT's or assemblies etc. because they are provided by a self aggrandizing "faithful slave" that likes to push its weight around. I died in regard to the dead.

Plenty of good things to be found in the ole Insight Volumes though.

That is why I am compelled to check out their stuff. I am only on the second talk, but it appears from the "convention" that the GB is fulfilling the prophecy in Jeremiah by claiming there is peace with God. At about the 27-minute mark K. Cook gives his talk from a balcony at their headquarters over-looking Blue Lake, just to emphasize the extent of the peaceful life they are enjoying since they got out of Brooklyn. Amazing. The tone-deafness.

@Watchman

They still wanting to play the game of GASLIGHTING! That’s what keeps the rank and file following along.
But it’s very sad to watch them blindly follow.

Didn’t Jesus say “Keep on the watch?” But they’re “watching“ in the wrong direction. 😟

If these types of talks continue, I might have to stand up and rip off my outer garment!!

@Nomex

Yeah, me and my husband were part of that bunch too. But if I thought about what we were doing for too long I would start feeling ridiculous! It‘s like you almost have to play a trick on your mind to get the real feel of it! That’s kind of like taking drugs to alter your perception, then gives you that euphoric feeling. Kind of creepy!

Strange for sure!!!

They actually encourage you to wear your name tag at home. It still surprises me you don’t have to wear a mask at a Zoom meeting 🤣

In a WT study they mentioned positive peer pressure! 😳 And this, not very intelligent, brother answers: well, I never knew there was positive peer pressure. No, dimwit, there’s no such thing, peer pressure is still pressure 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️
This is the level WT finds itself at 🥴

LETT-Go.jpgIn Lett's opening remarks at about the 25:38 mark he quotes Jeremiah 29:11, which says: "For I well know the thoughts that I am thinking toward you,’ declares Jehovah, ‘thoughts of peace, and not of calamity, to give you a future and a hope."

The speaker didn't bother to add any context, but Jeremiah sent that message to the Jews who had already been taken captive to Babylon. In other words, Jehovah was assuring them that he was not going to perform a complete extermination of the Jewish nation. But they were punished to the proper degree. If the Bible Students got out of Babylon the Great in 1919 the prophecy cannot possibly apply to JW's now.

At around 34:20 Lett tries to make a joke. He refers to the prophecy of Isaiah about the wolf and lamb feeding together and says that if that happened now the wolf would be dining on lamb chops. This poor simpleton apparently does not realize that the WT claims that JW's are already living in a predator-free spiritual paradise where the wolf and lamb feed together in peace. I pointed out years ago that in the WT's faux spiritual paradise the wolf (pedophiles) devours the lambs. No joke.
