Many "brothers" should learn from this sister, especially those in the leadership.
Yes. Quite an example. And here is another sister that stood up for faith even as a young girl. I tell you what. Those brothers and sisters in Nazi Europe really were the real deal. I love this book. My copy is somewhere in circulation in the local congregation. I gave it to my mother who passed it on at the hall to someone else and I lost track of it! Should be in every congregation library. Many "brothers" should learn from this sister, especially those in the leadership.
He says "I must say, I never bore malice or felt hate for our persecutors." Much better man than I will ever be. These brothers and sisters were amazing. They are STILL a source of encouragement. I knew a brother and sister that were beaten and arrested in Litchfield Illinois around 1940 for refusing to salute the flag. Others were tarred and feathered and even shot. They were in my congregation. Thanks for the link.
When I was young during the 80's and 90's we had a circuit overseer for our congregation in Belgium, who also survived the concentration camps.
His life story is also in the WT:

He was such a nice person and very motivating. He was of the anointed.
He also has interviews with the US Holocaust museum:

He helped me a lot to stay on the right track. I still remember him visiting at our home. Such a nice memories.
Witnesses today don’t have near the kind of faith in Jehovah as they had back then. It pains me that WT would even put this on their website because this is no longer the same group as it was back then anymore. Many "brothers" should learn from this sister, especially those in the leadership.
I remember reading about this years ago. It was horrendous. It didn’t seem possible that this was happening in America. He says "I must say, I never bore malice or felt hate for our persecutors." They tarred and feathered brothers in Scotland too..I remember reading about this years ago. It was horrendous. It didn’t seem possible that this was happening in America.
The Irish and Scottish were Empire's first slaves posted in the West Indies after land clearances! Scottish Widows were courted by Bank of Scotland to ivest shares in slaves; if they couldn't afford a whole slave then they could have third part shares; they were encouraged to solicit thier friends and neighbours to go part shares with you! And this was in the late 1600's till abolition in 1800's! And when abolition came they were compensated admirably. They tarred and feathered brothers in Scotland too..
You mean the white people were slaves to the blacks? The Irish and Scottish were Empire's first slaves posted in the West Indies after land clearances! My 92-year-old aunt has always had such a faith and a palpable love for Jehovah. I visited her a few weeks ago, and she was in a roundabout way acknowledging that she likely would not see the end of this system. She said "Armageddon is biting me in the backside" whatever that means. I feel bad because she was always so certain she would see it. She is a remarkable woman of faith. She lost her husband my uncle as well as her two boys in death. She says we will all be together again in the new system, and we are going to have a picnic!Witnesses today don’t have near the kind of faith in Jehovah that they had to them strength back then. It pains me that WT would even put this on their website because this is no longer the same group as it was back then anymore.
I bet if this sister would be alive today and in a congregation she wouldn’t recognize it and the brothers would be counseling her about something she said or did.
Thanks for sharing that Jim. That is very touching. My 92-year-old aunt has always had such a faith and a palpable love for Jehovah. Yes: Some blacks attained their freedom and would buy Irish and Scottish slaves: The whites were the first slaves of Empire in the West Indies. https://blackthen.com/the-truth-about-why-some-free-blacks-owned-slaves/You mean the white people were slaves to the blacks?
So me being a white person, it should be ME who has a chip on my shoulder about "my" past??Yes: Some blacks attained their freedom and would buy Irish and Scottish slaves: The whites were the first slaves of Empire in the West Indies. https://blackthen.com/the-truth-about-why-some-free-blacks-owned-slaves/
Black Americans had white indentured servants https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/African-American_slave_ownersLetters II: As many as 100,000 Scots were sold into slavery
I WAS struck by the article on Scotland’s role in the African slave trade (No sugaring the pill of our country’s slave trade role, The National,…www.thenational.scot
I'm a son of Empire and carry the burden of shame. So me being a white person, it should be ME who has a chip on my shoulder about "my" past??
Man has been a slave to himself and others since the day Adam sold us into slavery - unless of course you are English, in which case we have to endure that universal sense of superiority and elitism. It’s a heavy burden for us, but someone has to set an example. After all, we have provided you guys up north with fish and chips and plenty of steel mills and coal mines to work in, even oil rigs for when you want to spend time by the sea. You can hardly claim that is slavery!!So me being a white person, it should be ME who has a chip on my shoulder about "my" past??
I know.. only kidding because of the narrative that's been around for most of my life! As for the fish and chips and steel mills and coal mines you southern softies have given us, what about what we've given YOU??!! Like that huge car park that encircles London, jellied eels and green licor, and not forgetting Ashford International StationMan has been a slave to himself and others since the day Adam sold us into slavery - unless of course you are English, in which case we have to endure that universal sense of superiority and elitism. I don't take any of it personally so carry no shame.. apart from Brits holidaying abroad, I do get embarrassed by themI'm a son of Empire and carry the burden of shame.
Yes you did us proud. Navvies to the core. I have spent many a happy hour in the orbital car park and it’s impossible to get through Ashford now without booking a room for the night. Jellied eels I draw the line at. Oysters only! One has to keep up appearances y’know!I know.. only kidding because of the narrative that's been around for most of my life!
