Well, it would seem we survived the WT study this week; hopefully none of the forum members succumbed to the Borg efforts and have abandoned us to return PIMI. Hang on we gotta survive next week
Yes. Survived. I think @Watchman put it best when he stated that 'trusting Jehovah and trusting the GB/Org are not mutually inclusive', they are mutually exclusive. Paragraph 3 of the WT, to me, implies inclusivity. If the org/GB asks us to do something not scripturally sound, then, who ultimately should we trust and obey?

They’ve pretty much always spun it like that. First they say “by means of Jehovah’s word” the tricky part is how that statement is followed by “as it is EXPLAINED BY JEHOVAH ‘S ORGANIZATION.“ Then finally “we learn from what Jehovah requires of us.” 😳

They are playing with people’s minds with their ‘interpretation‘ of scripture. 😵‍💫 Yes, it’s contempt and gaslighting! Just think of the mental acrobats they’ve put us through…that’s mental abuse. They have definitely put themselves in place of Jehovah and Jesus.
Absolutely so. When I joined the witnesses, the inference of ownership of the word had not matured into what it is today. In those days, the Org “owned” the explanation as it was understood generally by all. It appeared that their role was one of administration. Hence “new light” and as such, allowed for u-turns. Transgression in such remained an offence against the bible and though out of context in some cases, they still held the view that ‘committee’ judgement was ‘biblical’. Now though, judgement is based on watchtower‘s definition of what is true and which is a subtle but critical development and the range in subject matter of what is deemed heretical is now what they say it is, rather than what the bible suggests. And so too with that, came their solution to repentance, in that all sheep should trust them, rather than that which is written. It is a mirror of the “superfine” apostles.

Yes, I know you’re absolutely right BTD. And when you stop and think about it where in the Bible is “new light“ mentioned or inferred? NOWHERE!
If you read Proverbs chapter 4 about the ‘light getting brighter‘ this is no reference to requirements or prophecy becoming more clear in understanding. I am amazed (not in a good way) how many of us could believe the way they used this to change, make adjustments and so on. The only thing this has to do with them being our light is their GASLIGHTING!

That whole chapter 4 in Proverbs is directly tied to us following Jehovah’s ways, and comparing this to being as 2 Samuel 23:3,4 says (this is one of the cross reference scriptures)

“The God of Israel spoke; To me the Rock of Israel said: ‘When the one ruling over mankind is righteous, Ruling in the fear of God, It is like the morning light when the sun shines, A morning without clouds. It is like the brightness after the rain, Making grass sprout from the earth.”

This article came to mind.
The GB reflect an unassailable thinking and project it onto the sheep as though they, the GB are infallible. Who else but the GB would assume their title as a religious leader, in receipt of direct channeling of truth from God, only to denounce religious leaders as liars and the friend of Satan…. And then, with breath-taking arrogance, assume that the sheep will not then assume that he is not what he makes itself out to be, but the opposite! (This does make sense grammatically, but I cannot vouch for the effect on the readers sanity PJ, so hang on in there!!). The GB have created for themselves the absolute attainment to the finest pinnacle in the personification of gaslighting and I must admit, I take my hat off to Jehovah for prophesying the greatest contradiction in terms ever conjured up by the GB to admit to in condemning themselves. It must be a reflection of what happens to the mind in end-stage apostasy. In fact, in my youth I knew the vicar in our village, and as a religious leader, he not only told the truth in his understanding, but practiced it too. Being part of christendom does not mean a person is evil, other than when faced with truth, only to deny it.

it makes me so despondent, constantly having to be on my guard against all those mental gamesView attachment 2839
I quickly came to understand that to truly subject one’s self to progress, it was necessary for me to quit comparing truth with watchtower. In ethical terms, Jehovah (in my thinking) is plain on the issues of adultery. I cannot see how this attitude would be any different from the definition of apostasy. (Marriage of the lamb - marriage vows - the penalty for adultery - living a spiritual life in ones’s everyday life). I have not gone back to any watchtower teaching these past 40 plus years now, to compare it with truth, or any of their practices. All of it is contaminated and in what little was good, it is tainted by their adultery to the spirit. There is nothing to forgive any more with them. There are only souls to save out of it and even those have to leave their comfortable Marriage bed. We have truth here. Though we argue together or like to own a point or two in discussion, it does not alter our pursuit or make life onerous or difficult. The support of those here speaks for its self and is evidenced in our own growth. Who here would deny an improved relationship with the Grand Creator, or even a spiritual awakening to understanding, making truth live - alive? No one will contradict that last sentence. There are times when silence speaks a thousand words.

Beautiful verse. We all know mornings like that. When I was young, my brother and I would go and play in the fields and woodland behind our home. There was a stream there too that we used to dam to make a still pool so that we could see the wildlife in the water. The still air beneath the trees and the raw earth underfoot held the very scent of life itself, wild flowers shimmered in the filtered light streaming down through the trees and the birds therein trilled and fluttered through the leaves as if in a heavenly song of creation. The earth beneath our feet was soft and pungent with the flavours of decay from the winter frosts and in the fields beyond, lay cattle chewing the cud and sheep wandering through them like chess pieces looking for soft green grass. The hill above the valley was crowned with a silent village of old and rustic homes dating back hundreds of years and the church spire was a monument to the skill of the stone masons of a thousand years ago. The silence of nature that poured over those green fields like fragrant honey from a wooden spoon was laced with the delicate hum of bees; the gentle, almost soporific breath of contentment of the animals was a silence of golden peace, still and contemplative of creation itself, a silence blessed with voice of Jehovah Himself.
