Jess, you are justified for feeling downhearted over this. It is lunacy. I am seeing so many inconsistencies it makes my head spin. What I'm wondering with this situation is ... are these people going to the in-person meetings, and if so, why the insistence on remaining contactless? Are they not sitting directly next to one another, brushing shoulders etc? Is it because you are not juiced-up she feels you should distance yourself? Just curious because there are so many strange concepts floating around here too.

I haven't been back to in-person meetings but my husband and daughter go, and they say everyone is masked. Last weekend we were pressed by Field Service Group Overseer to join the entire group for hospitality (feeding the speaker after meeting) at his home. That would mean about 20-25 people if everyone showed up. He assured us, don't worry you don't have to wear a mask, nobody will be wearing masks. Fine, but why is it such a big deal at meetings and then 10 minutes later it's irrelevant? (We didn't attend, btw.)

My family is unjabbed, and probably everyone is aware, but this apparently didn't matter to our FSG overseer. And I've noticed in our city most stores & restaurants are basically returning to "normal" and hardly anyone wears masks.
Very similar experience here, we were invited to a large gathering. I didn't go, but my family went and they said nobody cared about masks. So bizarre! They're all masked up at the meetings and yet they show they know it's all a charade by not wearing masks at their gathering. If it really is just a charade, why is nobody questioning the GB guidance?

I just have to chime in here and give my short story of inconsistency with the masks. It actually has a positive ending.
2 weekends ago we had a gathering of friends from our former congregation for Karaoke. My wife over-invited and our livingroom was packed with 27 people. Some of them chose to keep masks on part of the time. We had drinks and food so all masks came off for that and to sing of course. And my wife made everyone sing. One sister wasn't going to come due to fear but her daughters car was giving trouble so she drove the daughters and stayed. At first she refused to come inside (we had a tent and chairs set up outside as well) but eventually she came in and even joined in the fun singing with her girls (without a mask). We had a lot of much needed fun and de-stressing together as a group. Some chose to put their masks back on occasionally (God knows why) but if it makes them feel comfortable, so be it. I got to hug my motherly sisters and chat with them face to face for the first time in 2 years (can't do that at the hall). Everyone had a great time and were thanking us asking when the next one will be.
A week and a half later and no reports of illness...Imagine that!
I think we just have to view them as traumatized little sheep...skinned and thrown about. Help them to aleviate their fear. Show them how. They've forgotten.

Thank you @MuleJule. Yes, there seems to be no rhyme or reason to anything COVID related ugggh. That good your FSG overseer seems to be reasonable though!

Hi A.M.S.,

Don't dump them yet. This one needs to percolate a bit more to see what transpires in the near future. It could go both ways but if it goes good, then you will be glad you did not act in haste. If it goes badly, then you have additional fodder for a more solid answer. Mick is right, you are really the only one who can answer this for yourself. Maybe ask Jehovah for help dealing with their feeding your resentment levels. I feel for you so much and I hope things get better for you very soon!!
It's been almost a year of this now... and I can't even talk to them about this because they'll take it too personally and become easily offended.

@A.M.S.

oh sweetie i can’t imagine how difficult your situation is right now- my heart goes out to you so much. @Medi-tator and @MickHewitt are right, perhaps time will bear out a solution, and of course keep asking Jehovah for guidance. I will keep you in my prayers.

You know, i have said this many times to people in your situation- the relationships within the org, even amongst family, are tenuous at best because JWs are always policing each other- always scanning to pick up on even the most minor infraction, or slip up, what have you, so it makes maintaining these relationships exhausting for someone in your position. You get to the point where you just can’t carry the relationship anymore or you’ll go mad!

And this situation is wholly different because you know you cannot under any circumstance get any of these injections. Your life is worth so much more than to risk it just to go along to get along. You can’t risk your life or your health, not even for your unwitting JW family who are mentally super-glued to the Gov Body. It’s so profoundly tragic.

Please keep us updated- we are all here for you.

Kim

Update: A long overdue one, but still. The other day, I finally got to meet my nephew. He's such a little ball of energy.

HOWEVER... The day before that, I was informed he'd received his first covid "vaccine." Which means it's too late for me to save him from the madness and the fallout occurring in his own little body. Also, when we went indoors, they had me face-diaper up... funny story--- I actually used the face-diaper to play peekaboo. The only silver lining in this is that I finally got to meet him before the "vax" takes its toll.

NATO Combined forces my old chap. Exchange of comms staff. I served all up and down the eastern seaboard. It was a time when we were still using old German communications (After WWII we just copied their whole communications tech) Sattelite was coming in. We only had one sattelite at first so when we were over the horizon we shout 'woods!' and then wait until it was up again....hee hee! Got out just in time before the Falklands...phew! The story about HMS Sheffield (brand new type 21 frigate) going down (20 lives lost) in the South Atlantic the lads could not talk about the story for years.... it was an old decoy ploy to draw fire and what do you know........Exocet missile took it to the bottom. The French gave Argentina the missiles plus the Super Etendard and Mirage fighters on loan! P.s I mentioned the Sheffield...A sailor who was blown clean off the Sheffield into the freezing South Atlantic prayed ' If you get me out of this Jehovah I will be your witness'. I had the priviledge of meeting this brother an elder giving talks in the 90's..incredible!
During the Falklands , they used some of the Ferries for transporting , or whatever they do . An exocet came in through either the front or rear doors . Went right through and out the opposite end . That deck was empty at the time , but all the shell plates etc were all warped from the heat . I did manage almost a hour on a RFA ship before being asked to leave . Also worked at a naval dockyard on the civils side . I had to be escorted everywhere , even to the toilet , and a new pass done every week . Apparently , they are edgy about the Irish . The funny part is that I have clearance and my explosives engineers ticket , but they were more worried about the accent , and that my surname is eastern block .

I was asked if I find an interested person , as I still do informal witnessing all thru the pandemic and now, where will I direct someone who wants to learn about Jehovah and serve him? This was a question just to undermine my understanding of current events and the apostasy that has taken place for many years within the Organization, of which I was completely unaware.

But nevertheless was intended to get me back to the Organization . However , I replied , I will direct them to the bible and help them understand what it teaches and I will assist and associate with anyone who wanted to live by Gods standards, and is willing to preach or share what they learn with anyone with a listening ear. I would love to go back to door to door as well and probably will.

I cannot and will not help someone to stay within or enter into the Organization, because I feel it would hinder their progress or misdirect them into false worship as well. How could I in good conscience do that? I lament your situation and have struggled myself with the same issues ..but remember it is Jehovah your God you must worship and him alone you must render sacred service....it is indeed a very trial some time for anyone wanting to worship him in spirit and truth.

JMJ @ that time there was an advert in the U.K for Golden Delicious french apples. 'Le crunch'..big advertising only the take was "EXOCET; LE CRUNCH!" Those RFA's were top targets...what a dangerous job to have! Dangerous without being targeted those repleneshments at sea were a fearful thing!

Well, its now been about 9 months in my new congregation and also 9 months since I spoke out in service one day in defense of some terrible banter I witnessed against unvaccinated ones. Since then I have been pretty much treated like I have Ebola or Patient X, despite being somewhat of a "health fanatic" and natural health practitioner myself.

There is only one somewhat older sister in the hall who still does have some contact with me. Its' usually to help out in some "contactless" way with ones in the hall or her Bible Students.

Anyway, the continued lunacy of today's "errand" to help out one her Bible Student's got me feeling down. I have been asked to install the new JW update on a Bible students iPad ( Student doesn't have internet) and I also have a item to drop by her home which is nearby as well.

In both cases with the updating the iPad for the Bible student and dropping the item by her home and per usual-I have been instructed to remain completely contactless.

Hardly anyone else in this entire state is still carrying on these charades except Witnesses. This just makes me feel so sad. Even the Bible Student who really likes me is so confused by it 😢

Under normal circumstances, I would be happy to help but this treatment makes it feel like more of a bummer. Trying not to be resentful and constantly repeating Jesus' words in my head "Forgive them Father for they know not what they do" but man its really getting hard

Alas, here I go...driving 45 away minutes to complete this task to possibly only be peeked at from behind a window pane for "the danger" I pose to the brothers and sisters 🙏
It's reprehensible what people who use natural remedies have to put up with. Or those who just want to live naturally, or a quiet life. Away from fear and dogma. When I went back to the meeting when they opened up it looked like a cult center. And I was the only one bare faced. I thought I was living through a nightmare.
Yes there is a lot of banter about masks and vaccinations that are really ignorant, harsh and bully like.
It's commendable that you spoke up, somebody somewhere has to be a good example. But when you're doing whats right even persecution can make you happy.
