Canary in the Coal Mine (Economy / off-topic)

We might have had enough money to buy our way out of any problems life presented. Not a good place to be spiritually ala eye of the needle principle LOL. Smart you @SusanB !!
I have always left the money to my wife to administer. It had a hugely positive effect upon the braking system in my car and the frequency of strychnine poisoning that I suffered around paydays.

Canaries were iconically used in coal mines to detect the presence of carbon monoxide. The bird's rapid breathing rate, small size, and high metabolism, compared to the miners, led birds in dangerous mines to succumb before the miners, thereby giving the miners time to take action.

This week the world economy definitely broke. Investors started to panic and gold is on a roller coaster at the moment.
When gold goes up by a lot that means that something RLY RLY BAD is coming our way.
Inflation is going crazy and it will most probably end into hyperinflation soon. This means that at some point you will probably have to pay a 100 dollars for a loaf of bread at the grocery store or a 1000 bucks to fill up your cars gas tank.
Over the millenia gold has always shown to be a great inflation hedge. When the price of gold goes up, other prices go up as well.
Up till last week the gold price was constantly being artificially controlled and kept low by the banksters, COMEX and the FED. Those price corrections stopped recently, meaning that the price of gold and silver got out of control and is rising incredibly fast. Soon this will translate into unaffordable food prices, energy prices and pretty much everything else too. If you have the means and got some spare cash its still not too late to buy some physical gold or silver for when prices and products are starting to become completely unaffordable. And yes, Jesus said: nobody will be able to buy or sell at some point... but he didnt say anything about bartering. PMs can also be used for barter, unlike BTC or credit cards and bank balance. Just a thought.

If you got bitcoin or crypto my only advice is: Make sure that you're not holding the bag when the "music" stops playing. Crypto is a trojan horse made by government/ deep state to distract people from precious metals, while the central banks are buying up the gold. The rank and file who went for BTC will eventually be fooled into a central bank digital currency once they outlawed crypto. Unless you wanna believe in the fairy tale of the mysterious Satoshi Nakamoto, go be my guest...hodl your BTC and lets see what happens next.

When all else fails, they will take you to WAR!
Prudence is a good thing to have, as is preparation so there is wisdom in what you say. However, for me, I am stuck on the principle that the issue behind the days to come is not survival, but that of faith. “He that looses his soul for my sake, will save it.“ Certainly as you note, prudence is the correct way forward, but the ultimate outcome remains in that we cannot have both reliance upon our own selves and faith in Jehovah both at the same time. The example of shadrach meshach and abednego underscore the issue, saying “….even if our God should not save us, know that we will not bow down before your idol.” Thus a line will eventually have to be drawn in the sand as to where we stand. We all know that.

Not only that though: gold and silver will become worthless. “All that a man has he will gladly give….”. For what? To stay alive? In this world? ! Is there nothing we will die for to preserve? I look back on those that gave their lives for their country. For what? For what have these countries become if not replicas of Sodom? Even the German Jews that fought for Germany in the Great War, were not saved from the German death camps of the Second World War. Those that put faith in Jehovah my not suffer less than others that save gold, but they will do so because of faith in Jehovah alone. That is worth dying for rather than want of money or an extra day of life.

In my case I don't think its just prudence, its the need of being pro-active and acting upon the prior warnings I have received from Jehovah and Jesus. I don't want to be that person who sits under an apple tree with my mouth open, waiting until Jehovah makes an apple fall from a branch right into my mouth.

Why did Jehovah and Jesus warn us about the things to come? So that we can prepare ourselves for whats coming so that we can act accordingly. Staying on the watch if you will.

Your example of shadrach meshach and abednego not bowing down to the image can be compared with the last and final phase of the tribulation where the image of the beast is all set up, and when the mark of the beast / not buying / not selling becomes an issue.
Revelation says even the rich will be put under compulsion, meaning those who own gold or something of worth.
Once the image of the beast is in place and once the 8th king will demand from all of us to bow down to the image of the beast = the end of the road/ final phase.

Rev 13:16: "16 It puts under compulsion all people—the small and the great, the rich and the poor, the free and the slaves—that these should be marked on their right hand or on their forehead etc."

On that moment we definitely need to have faith in Jehovah and Jesus saving our asses because then there is nothing else we can do anymore. Like you said: at the end of the road gold will become worthless and people will throw it on the streets.

However, BEFORE we reach that final stage we still have to endure an extensive period of chaos, bloodshed, the collapse of the current system, World War 3, food shortages and pestilences. Why did Jesus tell us about the things to come? So we can take proper measures and preparations,

We as Christians know that it is pointless to give our lives fighting for Ceasar / country or for whatever political human entity. The Jews who didn't make proper preparations got stuck in WW2 Europe. The European Jews who saw what was coming made sure they took proper measures by leaving behind everything they got while booking a boat trip to the United States asap. Those were the Jews that didn't end up in Auschwitz. Those were the Jews that didn't passively wait until the Germans violently put them on lifestock train wagons towards the East.

Sure, while in WW2 there were still many places left on earth to flee to, this will however not be the case in WW3 because it will be a worldwide thing. Still there are many things that we can do to prepare for what we know is coming.

To stay on topic here: Why am I not investing in crypto? Because its a pure volatile speculative asset with ZERO intrinsic value. Its pure casino gambling. People who invest in Bitcoin hope that things in the world will remain in a stable state. They hope to get rich quickly so that they can enjoy an early retirement in the future. If electricity goes down OR if the internet goes down, Bitcoiners don't even have access to their savings in that scenario. It's also the reason why every time you see another war breaking out that could potentially lead to WW3, the crypto markets are being crushed while gold / silver is making all time highs.

So, on the other hand you got people who buy gold. Besides the fact that throughout the entire Bible gold is being described numerous times as a precious and valuable material, gold is also bought by those who bet on an incoming apocalyptic event. The downfall of the current system if you will. Even though 99% of humanity thinks / hopes that it will not come to that, we on the other hand do know that the 4 horsemen are at the door waiting to start moving any moment now. Make use of the warnings in the Bible while you still can. Don't be passive. Be pro-active within the Christian boundaries. We as Christians are not allowed to stock up on weapons and firearms, but we are allowed to hide gold / silver or food in various places.

If its not for yourself, do it for your fellow brother or sister and their children. When the time comes, they might come to your door asking/ begging for a bit of food or for a gold / silver coin in order for them to survive. Wouldn't it be a great feeling to be that brother who took proper preparations and who listened and acted upon the Biblical warnings he received from God? Wat gives man a better feeling than to be able to give your fellow brother or sister something in their most difficult time of need that makes them and their kids able to buy or barter some food so that they can survive the atrocities to come?

And of course: If you die anyway, you have to trust in Jehovah resurrecting you. However, if you'd ask fellow believers if they would rather want to be resurrected or if they want to be part of the great crowd coming out of the tribulation alive: I think that 99% would prefer coming out of the trib alive. Acting upon the warnings that we received in the Bible will only increase those chances of coming out alive of the great trib.

Yes, good reasoning. You have mentioned some points I had not considered, (though no, I don’t sit under the apple tree with my mouth open!! 🤣) As you note though, there are many, rather than few, who cannot afford to buy gold, many widows and the average Joe and whether we have gold or not, we still have to face the test which does not depend on anything other than faith and our heart condition. I’m not arguing the point of course from survival but from our own substance. The example of Shadrach et alia is simply one of faith, not survival, and of values. Yes I would of course dearly love to survive and see entry into the kingdom. Shadrach could not have bought his way out of that situation. And essentially, though I do not of course oppose your thinking on the matter, and which indeed has its merits in preparation, I personally find it very difficult to move into the realms of providing for myself, my own material means of survival, beyond what is normal because it is not our survival that is the issue, but our faith in Jehovah.

For this I would cite the Israelites on leaving Egypt. They took what they had, but they very soon used up their reserves and complained to Moses that he had brought them into the wilderness to starve and thirst. The outcome was twofold. The Israelites were provided with water and food, and Moses was punished for his arrogance over provision. I draw parallels on this to our day, in the prudence you describe. Our savings cannot last that which is described to come. Neither can our generosity toward others to provide what we do not or will not have. As mentioned, I do not oppose your thinking, preparation has its place in every scripture I can think of. My thoughts are on the outcomes at the end. We are to prepare for the flight, yes, you’re absolutely correct, and of course we share down to the last crumb - it goes without saying. But what then? What would the widow of little means save - or share? The only difference between the widow and the rich and well stocked, is time. They still have to ask themselves the same question when the time comes, sooner or later. I would rather face that question earlier, because it must be answered by all of us. Of course, the other thing is money. If I had money to buy gold, because I am fickle, i suppose, I would buy a little more, but it cannot buy food is there is none, or water if it cannot be drunk. People kill for it too. In the end, perhaps faith is gold. 👍

there are many, rather than few, who cannot afford to buy gold,
Dear bro Barnaby,

Its true that gold is quite expensive and not everybody has the means to buy some. However, you could also buy small 1 gram or even 0,5 gram bullion of gold at any PM dealer. Its a far better option than to let it rot on your bank account and let inflation decimate your savings. And even if that is still too expensive, there is also the option of buying silver which is even better than gold in many ways. Silver is more affordable and it even has water purifying properties for example. Did you know that back in the day in the Wild West, every cowboy carried a silver coin with him in order to be able to purify drinking water? Silver also has a much lower chance of being outlawed by governments.

Anyway, at the end of the road eventually everybody will be confronted with the test of the mark of the beast. It might even be so that for those who own a lot, also have a lot to lose. Meaning that if someone owns a lot of riches, that person could be more easily persuaded into taking the mark to regain access to their bank accounts in order to buy and sell. Who knows? Revelation does teach us that we can't buy our way out of the MOTB test. Nevertheless, the test of tests is at the end of the road. To increase your chances of getting there in the first place it couldn't hurt to prepare for that moment before it happens.

but it cannot buy food is there is none, or water if it cannot be drunk.
Jesus warned us about food shortages, meaning that there will be food, however, there will be a "shortage" of it. Those who own something might have easier access to it through bartering or even buying before the MOTB system has been deployed that prevents us from buying or selling.

What would the widow of little means save - or share?
I would rather turn that question around: What did YOU save in order to be able to share with the helpless widow or fatherless boy / orphan? Love thy neighbor right? If you have the means, why not?

In the end, perhaps faith is gold
True that, faith is gold anyway, but like you said: The mother of all tests will be "in the end". Lets first maximize our chances to get there. Its going to be a bumpy ride anyway, both spiritually and physically, so it might be a good idea to install some quality shock absorbers while we still can.
The rest is in the hands of the Most High.

If you had even bought 100 bucks worth...you'd be on a different forum, talking about your trip to Gstaad, the cost of your yacht's maintenance and your new Bentley. You'd be bored. :)
As I read yesterday….”All the happiness in the world cannot buy you money.” One thing that has stuck with me all my life, even before I came to understand the significance of creation, was the simple act of pouring oil over a dry piece of grained wood and watching the beauty of its construction emerge. No matter the skill of the carpenter, the beauty of the wood belongs to to Jehovah as a testament of perfection in all things. It applies in all natural materials - Otherwise, Michelangelo would have carved David out of concrete.
