Speaking of the great tribulation, interestingly, the Watchtower came up with yet another "adjustment" at the last Annual Meeting. The new light was put to print in the May 2024 Watchtower. Now, it is possible for people to repent after Babylon the Great is destroyed, or so they say. Incredible! They didn't offer much scriptural support for their new light, only that Jehovah is so merciful. JW's apparently do not realize that the GB's new light contradicts everything the Watchtower has stood for up until now. How often have we heard "Get out of here, my people"? Now, though, the WT has repudiated that biblical order.
Of course, the big error of the WT is the assumption that the great tribulation begins when the 8th king destroys Babylon the Great. No one has ever explained why God would be compelled to intervene to save mankind from extinction if the tribulation is merely the liquidation of false religion. After all these years of Bible study and research the Watchtower is regressing. This is to be expected as the organization is led deeper into apostasy and opposition to God.
As regards coming out of the great tribulation, Jesus had something to say about that: “However, when you catch sight of the disgusting thing that causes desolation standing where it should not be (let the reader use discernment), then let those in Judea begin fleeing to the mountains. Let the man on the housetop not come down nor go inside to take anything out of his house; and let the man in the field not return to the things behind to pick up his outer garment. Woe to the pregnant women and those nursing a baby in those days! Keep praying that it may not occur in wintertime; for those days will be days of a tribulation such as has not occurred from the beginning of the creation that God created until that time, and will not occur again. In fact, unless Jehovah had cut short the days, no flesh would be saved. But on account of the chosen ones whom he has chosen, he has cut short the days." - Mark 13:14-20
In the first century, Jerusalem was the center of worship, not only for Jews but also for Christians. Contrary to what the Watchtower teaches, the apostles did not view the Jewish form of worship or the temple as an unclean thing to avoid. There was one instance when the apostles advised Paul to go to the temple and make a sacrifice to quell the rumors that he was preaching an apostasy from Moses. So, when the disgusting thing appeared, the Christians in Jerusalem had to leave behind what had been Jehovah's organization. They literally, physically had to flee to the mountains.
During the conclusion, Christians will also be required to leave Jehovah's organization, but there will be no physical location to which to flee. In that instance, the mountains will be the singular mountain described in prophecy: "In the final part of the days, the mountain of the house of Jehovah will become firmly established above the top of the mountains, and it will be raised up above the hills, and to it peoples will stream."
