Rules on top of rules

Once again the Pharisees/ GB are now going to make more rules now that they’ve given permission to the witnesses ie the wearing of beards, pants for sisters, no coat and tie for brothers. This just calls for more rules as I knew it would.

Here elders are given information on grooming rules that rank and file JWs are not.

I don't mind seeing brothers wearing suits and sisters wearing modest dresses. Still, it's laughable to make a set of rules and then admit that you won't enforce them anywhere there is a hot humid climate. What was Jesus wearing? Since he is the master of our faith we would look to him for the standard as to what is important.

Very little is said about the clothing of Jesus and his disciples, at least to my recollection. The Roman soldiers divided up his clothing between themselves at Jesus' execution, castiing lots over his seamless inner garment. John 19:23:24; Matthew 27:35. One disciple, who followed Jesus after his arrest, had his garment stripped off of him and got away naked. 😳

Isaiah 28:13
So to them the word of Jehovah will be:“Command after command, command after command,Line by line, line by line,*iA little here, a little there,”So that when they walk,They will stumble and fall backward And be broken and ensnared and caught.

A great scripture to keep in mind. I should’ve made that the title to my thread. ☺️

John 21:7:

7 Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter: “It is the Lord!” Now Simon Peter, on hearing that it was the Lord, put on his outer garment, for he was naked, and plunged into the sea.

Mark 14:51,52:

51 However, a certain young man wearing only a fine linen garment over his naked body began to follow him nearby, and they tried to seize him, 52 but he left his linen garment behind and got away naked.

I get a strange satisfaction of seeing a non-elder being able to post this. I got this from another non-elder, non-Witness friend today, too.

I remember when I was in and the elders guarded this "confidential" information like their lives depended on it. It made them feel so important and privileged. Us non-Witnesses know more about these letters than any JW sitting in a KH. Makes you think, doesn't it? Who has the "truth"?

The lack of transparency and secrecy is very controlling and subversive. Does not build trust in me at all...

Can you imagine fishing naked? 🤣 🎣 🐠 🐟 They must have been free spirited back in those days, I guess, and appaently not shy.😳

Side thought: Will clothing be worn in the new system after the 1,000 years when mankind is restored to the perfection of Adam & Eve? They didn't wear clothes in Eden and wern't given animal skins to wear until ousted.

I think humanity inherited shame after the fall. The Bible says that they didn't even NOTICE that they were naked until after they sinned. This whole preoccupation that humans have with nudity is abnormal. Animals are "naked" and they could care less. Humans are the ONLY species that wears clothes. And look where it's gotten us: we use it to create fake hierarchies of who's better or not. We use it to divide. Think of gangs.

If we're all just in our B-day suits the playing field is leveled, so-to-speak. The climate will be mild again so who knows? I would lean to say yes because there was nothing shameful about nudity back then and they weren't so sex-crazed until the demons came down and perverted everything.

That's what kind of culture the apostles were living in. Ever see the Roman statues? They're all NAKED. Maybe they've have a drape, maybe not. But games were played naked and it was normal. And there were many statues and frescos showing blatantly sexual scenes and even homosexual scenes. Many of the emperors were homosexual. One of them was even married to a man.

Keep in mind that the word "normal" comes from "norm"" and "Normal" doesn't mean "sane" it just means what is the "norm" or "mean" or "average common thing to do" in culture. And culture comes from the word that means to culture something in a petri dish. Culture is cultured by someone or someones (could it be Satan, maybe?--she says in her best SNL church lady voice). Who cultured the Romans? Well, look at all the false gods that they worshipped.

I've always wondered HOW the scriptures at Ephesians were actually at work:
Ephesians 4:2,3:
2 in which you at one time walked according to the system of things of this world, according to the ruler of the authority of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience. 3 Yes, among them we all at one time conducted ourselves in harmony with the desires of our flesh, carrying out the will of the flesh and of our thoughts, and we were naturally children of wrathg just as the rest.

I find it no accident that TV programs are called "air waves" and same with radio stations. Mass media has been Satan's #1 tool for communicating to all of us that we smell bad, we're too fat and should be ashamed, we should all be sex-crazed maniacs, etc. Hollywood's moguls know that people learn by example and they imitate what they see. And then they created a "moral majority" by creating false "polls" of what people supposedly think, so that people have a falsely created peer pressure to go along with a crowd that has been created out of thin air.

That is perfectly described in these two scriptures in Ephesians and Romans:

4:14:

14 So we should no longer be children, tossed about as by waves and carried here and there by every wind of teachingw by means of the trickery of men, by means of cunning in deceptive schemes.'

Romans 12:2:

2 And stop being molded by this system of things, but be transformed by making your mind over, so that you may prove to yourselvesg the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

How do you mold clay? You put pressure on it to push the clay in certain directions. We are molded through our eyes with images. Just like Eve was. She "saw that the fruit was desirable to her eyes" and good for eating. Her SIGHT, not her TASTE, got her into trouble. What caught her "sight"?

Perhaps watching Satan disguised as a snake, eating the fruit and then talking? Then, she thought to herself: "If it can make a snake TALK, then what could it do for ME??"

So, back to the being naked thing. We've had our "norms" shaped and perverted for us. Being naked it natural. Being clothed is not. Being naked should not be shameful. That is taught.

Just my two cents.

You keep this up (well actually you always do have killer stuff like this) and I will put you in the same club as Nomex and The Dawg, clothed or not. Great stuff!

I believe when the Bible says they're naked it just means they had on their inner garments and not their outer garments. He definitely wasn't fishing naked.

I would if I could, but the HOA would be not too pleased & the sheriff would arive.

Okay, my Bible uses the word naked but maybe it doesn't mean completely naked.😉

Maybe they were just all going commando all the time:ROFLMAO:
Well, I've been skinny dipping a few times (2 or 3 maybe) in my life but never fished naked. Maybe in a bikini because I did wear bikinis and fished 👙🎣 because I lived in the country near ponds and lakes with fish in them. That was fun. 🤗 Cleaned 'em and cooked 'em too. They were very fresh and delicious, from pond to plate.😋
