Stanley Milgram’s experiment and Jehovah’s Witnesses

I wanted to post this because I found it interesting to learn how:
“Ordinary people, simply carrying out actions in the name of (worship to Jehovah), and without any particular hostility on their part, can become agents in a terribly-destructive process....even AFTER the destructive effects of their participation becomes patently obvious and they are asked to carry out actions which are incompatible with fundamental standards of basic human decency."
This 15 minute video explains how we, as Jehovah’s Witnesses for example were led to do things that went against our conscience although we were indoctrinated to believe if we disobeyed the GB we were disobedient to Jehovah. In this video you’ll see how we came to strongly believe this.

Please tell me what your thoughts are.

They did a great job with that video. It really showed the personal ramifications of their dress and grooming policies and how it was so arbitrary but also so damaging to families.

I learned about the Stanley Milgram experiment done at Yale when I was in college studying psychology. There's a few books about it, too.

He wanted to know how Hitler was able to get the whole nation to go along with his atrocities. People actually gave, what later was shown to be an actor during the experiment who lied as said he had a heart condition, the maximum voltage of electric shock for giving the wrong answers because the leader of the experiment told them when they objected "you must continue".

What I found interesting, however, and this will sting for you, Ms. Lady Blue, was in one version of the experiment, they found that they couldn't get family members to shock their own family members.

So it appears that WT is a government project of mind control and that they've found a way to turn family members against each other.

It's scary.

Maybe it’s this that will cause JW’s to start turning on ex jw’s like us or reporting us.

"JT" once said that the W/T takes B/S to a whole new level. JT is not a stranger to B/S. He is just another dipstick to get the goods on W/T. Not interested in what JT and Co have to say.

Ok, you’re free to have an opinion DR. Just because I posted their video doesn’t necessarily mean I agree with everything they say. If you read the title of the thread you’ll see that it has more to do with the said topic than with who was presenting it. There’s plenty of other sources that state the same thing with regard to Jehovah’s Witnesses and how this was used on them or us. I don’t think it worked with everybody.
But I don’t consider this B/S.

I have decided if anyone comments on my beard, I'm am going to quote the GB and say, "I have been wearing a beard for years, because there was never 'any biblical reason for me not too!'" Then they can try to squirm inside their own skin to try to justify the GB "going beyond the things written." JT, made the exact same point I have made, literally the day before they made their announcement, it was forbidden, same with the slacks, ties and jackets. And to make these announcements "matter of fact", like it's never really been a problem, but then why change it? All they do is fall all over themselves with contradictions, lies, and half truths.

The goods that JT and others have on the W/T are not all B/S, that was not what I was saying about the clip. I said that JT is no stranger to B/S. The clip might be all good? I'm just not interested in watching the clip and what JT has to say.

Not sure if he is still a worshiper of Jehovah.

Well, I’m sorry if I misunderstood. You remember we have a history of going back and forth between one another in disagreement with this or that. lol
To answer your question, JT or his wife are no longer Jehovah’s witnesses. But as far as worshipping Jehovah, probably not. Too many ex witnesses connect WT with Jehovah and that’s a shame. They’ll wake up though when terror strikes them regardless.

Btw the film clip is only 15 minutes but if you would like to learn what the Milgram experiment is about JT shows an actual film clip of a narrator explaining this not JT. It will be at the 10:48 minute mark. I’d like to get your input on it.

Sounds like mind control or perception control? I'll check it out out.

10:48 minute mark. I’d like to get your input on it.

The Milgram experiment - “...and what it does, it shows just how far we as humans, are willing to go, if we believe we’re doing this because an authority figure tells us” JT. What JT does not realize ( on purpose, I suspect ) is that some of us believe that the ruling comes from the bible, therefore Jehovah.

...This experiment highlighted a disturbing yet profound aspect of human nature. The capacity to act against ones ethical beliefs under authoritative pressure. Drawing parallels to Jehovah’s witnesses, the milgrim experiments incites into obedience and authority, resinate deeply.” Attention is drawn to the shunning practice of Jehovah’s witnesses. I’m aware that shunning is a subject close to you, so I’m not surprised that you made the post. But your case is unique.

The capacity to act against ones ethical beliefs under authoritative pressure.”

I’m trying to think, what ethical beliefs I was acting against when I agreed that I should be disfelowshipped, and that I was OK that shunning is just a part of the deal? Wait a minute I had no ethical beliefs that went against what I was learning from the bible.

I think JT is full a kaka, I suspect he is just another disgruntled individual for whatever reason who is using any and all he can use to hit back against the G/B. If that makes him complete ( or whatever it does ) then so be it.

Curious to know why you keep picking at the wound? It is not the first time you posted about the subject on here.

Hang in there my sister, Jehovah will sort things out soon.

I have no idea what you’re talking about DR. Why can’t you elaborate?

Don't tell me you didn't watch the video you posted? The quotes are in the clip. I just responded to a couple points, which I quoted, made by JT and the narrator. If you can't work it out still hang in there my sister, Jehovah will sort everything out soon.

Growing up , I was told stories of the Irish and Scottish heroes of our past , and of our more recent times . It had the effect where I did not go along with what was popular , I went for what was right . Even a psychologist gave up on the third session of trying to analyse me . I also remember seeing a film of school children being shown the various forms of discrimination , how it is done , and its effects . It may well be why I never went along with the Watchtowers various rules on dress . I remember when Jesus was questioned about his , and the disciples washing before a meal . Jesus pointed out that what goes into the body passes along , and out , but what comes out of the mouth , comes from the heart . That is what defiles him (Mathew 15 ) . No one should judge a person by their dress . A person`s actions and what the person speaks will show what is in the heart .

OK my bad you have posted about your family shunning you on this forum, is all I meant.
I know but that had nothing to do with why I posted this video. Don’t you get it? It’s the method they use to control their members and what it does to them. This isn’t always about me. It’s about all the millions of friends who are being controlled in this manner and it’s going to devastate them whenever they come to realize it. I love many of my brothers and sisters still under the authority of WT. I pray that they wake up soon.

I was the one who applied it to you but it applies to literally EVERY person in the world who is under the spell of one authority or another OTHER than Christ.
