What Is “Personal Protective Equipment?”

OK…. I posted a comment about this topic in the thread: “Special Announcement By The GB - Prepare For Civil Unrest”.

I read the announcement and watched the video. Neither defined the verbiage from the announcement which is shown in bold text below.

Review the contents of your go bag, and include personal protective equipment and money.”

In the video, there were pictures of flashlights, radios, batteries, etc…. My point is, nothing they showed in the video meets the definition of “personal protective equipment”. So? What do you think they were talking about?

I would be thinking more along the lines of sun screen, bug repellant, first aid kits with some extra antiseptic and bandage material. Once the fan has been splattered with doo, access to medical services may be restricted if even available at all. If you have to hit the trail then something in case of injuries is going to be important, as well the know-how to take care of some basic problems.
In the Army, a poncho was indispensable. Ours had snaps that matched our single tents and could be used as a tent half. You can dig a hole and use it to collect evaporated water for survival. Boots might be smarter than sneakers. A hoodie for medium weather and a heavy coat for the cold.

Ponchos are a must have. Try to stay with earth tones for colors.

You should also have a mess kit in your bag. A method to start a fire is a necessity - a butane lighter or two works. A good quality knife. A flashlight (a torch for those in the UK), a head lamp, spare batteries, a little baggie with some fishing line and hooks,

In addition to your great suggestion of a first aid kit, would be to take a first aid course. Get some basic training. Most community centers offer first aid training - at least around here they do.

I’d also recommend having plenty of antibiotic ointment on hand. A moderate cut in less than perfect conditions could be fatal. Also, a way to clean and sanitize a wound - alcohol and/or betadine antiseptic. You can get these items at your local pharmacy.

Now…. Does a first aid kit really qualify as “personal protection?” Who knows?

Masks. It always comes back to their tedious promotion of masks. 🙄https://images.app.goo.gl/ccYGBMzC7vKumQ9V7
In context with recent events that would make sense. Masks, gloves........ and a Bib if you're Joe Biden. :)🤤

I'm also thinking Sunscreen fits into that.......just not for the British.

Snake bite kits are handy as well. I guess that fits with general first aid but often times they are sold as a separate module.

LOL... I guess, Jess. Unless JW's are going to start working in coal mines - or on the railroad.... All the stuff shown in that photo will do is make you a visible target that screams - "I'm here! Take me to the camps!!!"
I just googled personal protective equipment. I know that many witnesses have this on hand for volunteer work in the LDC construction projects. This is just what came up 🤷🏼‍♀️

Full body condoms. The only safe way for them to go outside.

Actually, Jess, I think you might have nailed it.

“Personal protective equipment, or PPE, is the term for clothing, helmets, goggles and other equipment designed to protect the wearer from physical, electrical and heat hazards, chemicals, biohazards, and airborne particulate matter.”

Head, eyes/face, hearing, hands, feet, respiratory, body, and fall.

I can see a good pair of waterproof goretex hiking/hunting boots. Maybe a good pair of gloves (I like Mechanix brand) but safety vests and helmets? Too conspicuous if you’re trying to blend in, and/or stay out of view. Earth tone colored clothing - blacks, browns, greens, tans. (Camo can be too conspicuous in many circumstances). And, a good supply of cloth surgical masks to help protect you from Covid while on the run. (That last part was a joke. At least to me)

Anyhow. It wasn’t what my mind went to when I first read it.

Because when your running, there's nothing better than obstructing your breathing holes. After all, Covid's favorite avenue of attack is when you are all alone in the woods, your car, or walking on the sidewalk, with no one within couple hundred yards. Covid is like a hunting Lion, looking for someone who has strayed from the herd! Covid is very sneaky. Although not very good at what it does, but don't tell anyone that!
