2022 JW Convention

That is why I am compelled to check out their stuff. I am only on the second talk, but it appears from the "convention" that the GB is fulfilling the prophecy in Jeremiah by claiming there is peace with God. At about the 27-minute mark K. Cook gives his talk from a balcony at their headquarters over-looking Blue Lake, just to emphasize the extent of the peaceful life they are enjoying since they got out of Brooklyn. Amazing. The tone-deafness.

“Look at our multi million dollar view that you paid for, everyone. We love it here, it’s so tranquil and peaceful. Sometimes the water’s as smooth as a mirror. We also see hawks and eagles fly by. Everyday we go to the cafeteria and we can fill our plates to the rims and eat till our big bellies are full.”

Math. 6:2 Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.

PS. Just planning on watching the drama about David. Can’t stomach a second of their other dribble.

At around 34:20 Lett tries to make a joke. He refers to the prophecy of Isaiah about the wolf and lamb feeding together and says that if that happened now the wolf would be dining on lamb chops. This poor simpleton apparently does not realize that the WT claims that JW's are already living in a predator-free spiritual paradise where the wolf and lamb feed together in peace. I pointed out years ago that in the WT's faux spiritual paradise the wolf (pedophiles) devours the lambs. No joke.
Any one know if there's a talk on the Subject Peace and Security on the convention program?

Why are they STILL promoting fear and masks and covid garbage?!

@Dove08 because the mask symbolizes their oath of silence, generally shown in 33° Freemason literature as hand over mouth- signaling to others their loyalty to the code of silence.

These masks inhibit verbal communication, which the GB needs now more than ever .

I’m afraid this Covid narrative they’re pushing is much more sinister than folks realize.

But the truth will come out and it’s going to come out in a big way, nothing will stop it. And when it does- perhaps we will see the beginnings of the fulfillment of Isaiah 28v19.
I cannot wait for the truth to come out!!!

It’s all a facsimile, a pretence, an illusion, a counterfeit. The scripture describing whitewashed walls, written so long ago, now becomes so clear and meaningful.
Yeah, it’s never been this clear, has it? It’s no religion anymore, it’s a cult!

Nothing particularly wrong with a sect in itself given the bible students broke off from Barbour's group over the ransom controversy one can say JW's and there predecessors were always a sect of adventism as we became the second most prominent adventist denomination. Without sects protestantism wouldn't exist as everyone would still be catholic and there'd not have been any bible students. That Said the org definitely approached over the past decade and eventually crossed the line into a cult with the masks ministry suspension kingdom hall closures years of escalating GB worship and the vaccine push. Five years ago I would never say the org is or was the cult people make it out to be but acknowledge movement in the direction but the start of covid till now I can't deny they've transitioned to one and certainly resent the leadership for me not being able to deny that common accusation of our people anymore.

I meant cult. The Dutch word for cult is sekte, hence the confusion.

I changed it in the original post, but you quoted me before I changed it 😉

Here's a relevant scripture
1 Corinthians 14:20

"Brothers, stop thinking like children. In regard to evil be infants, but in your thinking be mature."

Amplified Bible:
"Brothers and sisters, do not be children [immature, childlike] in your thinking; be infants in [matters of] evil [completely innocent and inexperienced], but in your minds be mature [adults]."
Great scripture!
Jesus did not view young children as enemies of God either:

(Matthew 18:3, 4) and said: “Truly I say to you, unless you turn around and become as young children, you will by no means enter into the Kingdom of the heavens. 4 Therefore, whoever will humble himself like this young child is the one who is the greatest in the Kingdom of the heavens;

(Matthew 19:14) Jesus, however, said: “Let the young children alone, and do not try to stop them from coming to me, for the Kingdom of the heavens belongs to such ones.”

(Matthew 21:16) and said to him: “Do you hear what these are saying?” Jesus said to them: “Yes. Did you never read this, ‘Out of the mouth of children and infants, you have brought forth praise’?”

(Mark 9:36, 37) Then he took a young child and stood him in their midst; and putting his arms around him, he said to them: 37 “Whoever receives one of such young children on the basis of my name receives me also; and whoever receives me receives not me only but also Him who sent me.”

(Mark 10:14-16) At seeing this, Jesus was indignant and said to them: “Let the young children come to me; do not try to stop them, for the Kingdom of God belongs to such ones. 15 Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the Kingdom of God like a young child will by no means enter into it.” 16 And he took the children into his arms and began blessing them, laying his hands on them.

(Luke 18:16) However, Jesus called the infants to him, saying: “Let the young children come to me, and do not try to stop them, for the Kingdom of God belongs to such ones.

I’m thinking more about the implications of what Lett said about small children/babies being “enemies of God” in their, i guess, unbaptized status.

What makes this messaging so egregious, and so completely irresponsible is that millions of JW emotionally compromised parents will take this to heart- perhaps languishing under immense externals pressures, will take their aggression out on their children viewing them not as precious gifts from God but as God’s little enemies. This messaging will without question have a lasting impact on many parents with crushing implications.

Also consider the impact this will have on small children, little kids with burgeoning senses of self; impacting the way they view their peers, their neighbors, as it embeds into their memory formation, their psyche and stunts their ability to love Jehovah, to love themselves, resulting in an inability to love others.

This is no small matter, my hope is that this will stumble responsible parents OUT of Watchtower, allowing them to realize that Jehovah’s love is not compatible with an authoritarian regime that makes such statements, and that His boundless love exists outside of this organization.
I have a 2 1/2 year old grand daughter. She is so funny to watch play and just enjoy life. Lett makes my blood boil. She is a wonderful gift from our Heavenly Father. I can't and won't watch any of there talks. I do appreciate all of your takes from them.

I have five young children. I was thinking about what Lett said as I watched them playing this morning and I find his comment despicable and saddening. But not surprising, really. Although the society pays lip service to 'children are a blessing' I always felt an undercurrent of negativity towards having children from many brothers especially higher ups. It really bothered me even when I believed in the GB. I guess now they just can't help showing their true colours. My heart aches for our fully in JW friends who love their children so much.

You know, I think that the cognitive dissonance is so high among the brothers that no one will take notice of Bro. Lett's comment in a negative light. They'll just giggle and excuse it. High praises always went to those who preferred to "sacrifice" their desire for a family, so children would be seen as a burden or inconvenience more than a blessing. Oddly, while Paul spoke of the value of being single in serving the Lord, I don't recall texts valuing the refusal to have children within the Christian marital arrangement. Yet, how many of our married pioneers remain intentionally childless as if proudly obeying a higher calling? Am I off?

Lloyd Evens has a compilation of Lett bad mouthing children. That jerk does not like kids. And I agree even before I had kids you could really tell how much those who did not have kids, turned their nose up at those who do. When my daughter was propbaly a year old or younger, the handling attendance and seating, sat us two meetings in a row, in the front row, and second from the front row. I was going to sit in the back school, and he said, "we're trying to keep people from sitting in there unless they have a reason." I said, "I have an infant." He looked stunned like he hadn't thought of that and says, "Well that's not a reason." And then asked a sister to move and sat us next to her. He's probably in his 60's now and that was about 8 years ago, and no kids. Long story short, they appointed him an elder, and we had to change halls. The guy had a broken nose, and more than once I thought to myself, "I'm about to break your nose again you jackass." He made at least two sisters cry at the meeting because of the way he treated them.

I had to get out of there or it would have ended badly.

No your bang on: Hosea5:15 "When they are in distress they will seek me" While they believe they are in a spiritual paradise, we know what a shock the fall of W@chtower will be!

NO, years ago one of the gb gave a talk as to why would a Bro. tie himself down to a hank of hair and a bag of bones. The message back then was not to have children. Thankfully my parents didn't listen or I wouldn't be here.

I definitely can relate to your story of how brothers feel about children…even some that have their own children!

Years ago ( in the 80’s) when I was fairly new in the “truth“ and my husband was studying. It was during that time when our daughter was only a couple of months old she had colic and would cry a lot, so I would take her to the back and try to calm her. Mind you, there was no speaker in the back so most times I missed hearing the meetings in those days. During that same time I received 3 anonymous letters in the mail criticizing me, to put in their words; for ‘allowing my child to cry like that while the meeting was going on and while praying to our Heavenly Father, so she deserved to be thrown out like rotten fruit.‘

I cried for the rest of the day till my husband came home but I didn’t want to say anything to him, that it might stumble him. That was also the week of the CO visit. I informed the brothers, met with them, but my husband knew something was up, he insisted on finding out what was going on. So he did, but we never found out who wrote the letters.
Afterwards, we brought it to the brothers attention about having a speaker in the back. My husband, Steve, offered to go buy and install it in. Anyway, while the brothers kept going back and forth not making up their minds up about something so simple as having a speaker in the back…Steve just took it on himself to put the speaker in anyway. Nothing was said after that.

During that same time period while we were in the meeting, while the song was playing, one of the elders, who was one of those complainers of children, came up to Steve, pointing in his face saying “You need to take her outside and give her a good spanking!”
I don’t remember how Steve responded, but I had a thing or two to say to him on the phone the next day.

Back in those days we faced a lot of tests in the congregation while our children were growing up.
