The Chosen TV Series

I wasn't aware of this series, so thank you for posting the thread and comments. I would love to check it out. I have always loved "biblical" times shows, but so often cringe at the inaccuracies. My husband refuses to watch anything "biblical" not produced by the org because they "embellish" and imply too many things. Well good grief, so does the org, in ALL their bible times movies.
I watched The Passion of The Christ, I can't remember the names but there was a movie about Jeremiah that was quite good (someone mentioned it here) and one about Paul. More recently there was a series, only one season, called A.D. The Bible Continues available here of course it was not completely accurate, but I really enjoyed it, so much so that I bought it on Blu-Ray. I tried to get my hubby to watch it. I told him it built my faith and made me feel more attached to those first century Christians, but he wouldn't watch it. My daughter watched it with me and she really liked it too.
I think you might be talking about that TMC series about the Bible, there were about 10 movies in it, Patrick Dempsey was Jeremiah and that movie was definitely the best of the bunch, stayed very close to the Bible (except for Jehovah speaking as a little girl ). Parts still give me goosebumps when Patrick is prophesying. I remember Abraham and Isaac being good, maybe more so Abraham, but very sloooowwwwww.

Yes there's no way Israel's elohim would have appeared to Jeremiah as a child and i wouldnt be surprised if thats what inspired Ridley Scott's depiction of god as a weird child in his exodus film. Etymologically in the hebrew Jesus wisdom/chokmah/sophia aspect is feminine linguistic analysis by Barker augmented by tablets found in israel that date back to the 1st temple period suggests Deborah of Lappidoth was originally rendered Gebirah of Torches (great lady of the menorah) so I suspect not a human but an appearance of Christ him manifesting his Shaddai side.

I LOVE this series. A few months ago my son was up here visiting and he told me about it. We found it and watched season 1 and 2. It was so well done, and I agree with you about how it was presented and I too was very impressed with the historical setting back then I love the music how true to life it was back then. Good acting. I was moved to tears at the end of each one! 😭

They’re working on season 3 and it should be released sometime this year. You’ll love both seasons….it holds your attention the whole way through. 😍
SPOILER ALERT!!!
They kill the hero.

I don't know who it was that first mentioned this show on this forum but I watched the first episode last night, and I just wanted to say that I love it so far. They obviously had to take some creative liberties in order to take the story from written to a visual medium like film. Some of the dialog is different, and some details probably never happened exactly as they are shown. But I'm willing to be charitable with it because the way they've done it, at least so far, is acceptable to me. They even taught me some stuff about the historical setting back then that I never knew, so it's given me a different appreciation for Jesus and his disciples. Here's a recap of the first episode.

Is this the show?

People are losing their collective minds right now because of Jesus saying he is the law of Moses. Everyone claims that was a Mormon thing but it was actually taken from Judge Dredd.

My town doesn't have a theater. :( And all the churches are gay. Literally.
Aw man! Its playing at so many mainstream theaters, even in areas where you wouldn't expect. Where is the nearest theater to you? I used www.fandango.com to buy my tickets. Even in areas that you wouldn't think would be a "target demographic" for this type of movie are showing it. For example: in Los Angeles & Beverly Hills, California even. I was so surprised.

The nearest theater is about an hour an a half away, with ridiculous gas prices. That would be at least a hundred dollar trip.

While the writing of that line was a matter of speculation it's entirely plausible one of the most Jesusy lines I could think of.

When the Dao (the Way) is lost there is goodness, when goodness is lost there is morality, when morality is lost there is ritual, ritual is the husk of true faith the beginning of chaos.

"I am the way the truth and the life"

Jesus both is and is more than the law not only is he the fulfillment of the law he is the very embodiment of the spirit of the law of righteousness and the principles behind it what the law tries to promote through legislation, formalization, spelling things out and penalties he is as innately and effortlessly as breathing not only the law but above/beyond the law not in the sense of lawlessness but being the very state the laws promoting. Funny thing about Jesus being called the word is one term the ten commandments were referred to in bible times was the ten words. In fact in a first century context that would be a very good remark for him to make to Jews because at or before the 2nd century B.C. the scribes and rabbis started trying to cover up that Wisdom was a literal spirit creature this is evidenced by them making a small edit/interpolating manuscripts of Sirach in an easy to see through fashion to reframe it as the Torah rather than the angel that led the israelites through the wilderness. This tradition carried over to interpretations of Proverbs to the point legends of the jews from the 1910's claims the Torah was created 10,000 years before anything else and it and even the letters of the hebrew language were entities God had conversations with. Whether Jesus ever made a statement like the one in the trailer it would be the perfect comeback to the way they grafiti'd his identity as wisdom. He's also the lawgiver not saying he created the legislation as the father probably did but jesus likely supplied them with it as the New Testament says the law was transmitted by angels

Aw rats. Sorry. Guess all you can do is wait til it's released onto the app in December. I plan on watching episodes 1&2 a second time with my sister in December via the app when she comes up that same month. We're both fans of it but I am way more "cuckoo for cocoa puffs" over the series 😁😆
