A slugs life ❤

A Slugs Life by Trudy M Griggs!

I am a slug and I glide across the ground
I use my antennas to guide me around
I’m rubbery, wet, slimy, and soft to the touch
I’m not very popular people don’t like me too much
They come up and stamp on me they don’t understand
I belong here, like them, on this precious land

I spend my day looking for something juicy to eat
Soft big green leaves are my favourite treat
Hostas are a favourite delicacy of mine
You can see where I’ve been when I leave my trail of slime
All I am doing is filling my tummy
And I just happen to find Hostas particularly yummy
I have no agenda I just go about my day
I’m not trying to upset you or get in your way
I am very agile and can roll my body over
I love the early morning dew on the grass and clover
I love to be in a very cool and shady spot
A sun worshipper I most definitely am not
I’m food for the hedgehogs and for the frogs
So I hide myself in flowerpots and under logs

Humans prize their plants above my purpose and my being
Although they are looking at me they are not really seeing
Just because I’m not pretty or all soft and fluffy
Like a small kitten or a cute little puppy
It does not mean I don’t have a place
Just because you don’t see my face
I am just another part of the biodiversity of nature
Just another form from the wildlife creator

I don’t make a noise I don’t bark or meow
Neither roar like a lion or moo like a cow
I’m silent and peaceful you won’t get disturbed
But whenever you see me you are always perturbed
Humans are either trying to kill me
Or turn away as they fear to even go near me
They cover me in salt, poison or drown me in beer
My agony and pain as I die they do not hear
My cousin the snail has a similar fate
And has all the same hazards upon his plate
And apart from the fact he has a pretty shell
He also does not fare that well

I’m just a humble slug who lives in your garden out there
So give me some love and show me you care🐌

How vital our slugs, worms and bugs are! These humble slugs are more deserving of life than I: Looking at Ahab in today's scriptural consideration: I cannot condemn: The amount of times Jehovah helped me from my own stupidity only to commit the same sins again. I in absolute humility and shamefullness thank Him for the sacrifice of His Son!

An easy remedy to get rid of slugs is crushed eggs shells in your garden. In Hawaii the slugs are HUGE! And they can transmit deadly diseases like rat lungworm disease. Slugs are also a food source for centipedes and they’re a lot of centipedes in Hawaii. I accidentally stepped on one when barefoot the other day, it stung me and it hurt a lot! It’s still itching after a week!

Aww I'm sorry to hear that susan. I've heard centipede stings can be very itchy and painful. I hope it feels better soon...always something isn't it.
Well, I guess slugs aren't very popular here, lol. I thought it was a nice poem to share, but yes they can be a menace too for sure.

Nasty. I know they're Jehovah's creatures too but for the life of me, 😖, I just don't take too anything with more than 4 legs. Especially anything that bites or stings. Wait, how many legs does a butterfly have? I guess there are a few exceptions too that, but not too many. 😝
Hope you feel better soon Susan.
