Idioms In The Bible That Lead To Misunderstandings

I am always skeptical of these bible based videos. I don't need to tell you why. You already know. Many of them are completely out in left field somewhere, but every now and then you find something interesting. This is one of those times. What are your thoughts on this video? I like the part about what it means to pray in the name of Jesus, how there's nothing magic about the name itself but has more to do with what Jesus represents. Like somebody saying stop in the name of the law. There's nothing magic about the word "law". Similar kind of thing. I always end my prayers in Jesus name, but I never really thought about it like that.

Nice video. Interesting info.

Additionally, I think that asking that Jehovah hear my prayers in Jesus name means that I acknowledge that Jesus paid the ransom sacrifice and so he paid the price of sin for me so that I might have the opportunity for life. As a Watchtower publication states, Jesus is the sole channel through which God’s blessings are extended to all mankind and by praying in Jesus’ name, I am honoring the importance of that.

1 Corinthians 6:20: “for you were bought with a price. By all means, glorify God in your body.”

And, because Jesus paid the ransom price for me and through him I have the hope of everlasting life, he becomes my “Eternal Father” as per Isaiah 9:6: “For a child has been born to us, A son has been given to us; And the rulership will rest on his shoulder. His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.”

And, it acknowledges that I have dedicated my life to Jehovah and in the name of Jesus, which again recognizes Jesus’ role as my ransomer as as the channel for future blessings with life in paradise.

Colossians 3:17: “Whatever it is that you do in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, thanking God the Father through him.”

John 15:16: “You did not choose me, but I chose you, and I appointed you to go and keep bearing fruit and that your fruit should remain, so that no matter what you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.
