If this is the limit of watchtower help to these bereaved families then their coldness is without bounds. Two circuit overseers and the congregation elders plus some from the bethel. This can be fixed by a few scriptures and hand-holding? Is that the limit of their intervention and remedial strategy? Perhaps they will leave a few watchtower magazines too. As it was a Jehovah’s Witness that committed the crime, perhaps the GB will see fit to pay for professional help for these bereaved brethren and the funerals not to mention all other pro-active help.

I watched (not the whole thing) the program the GB provided in Germany for the massacre there. Their orchestra played the music (I keep forgetting the name of that one) that was allegedly written by a brother in the concentration camps in the 2nd world war if I am not mistaken. I guess it was in solidarity with other crimes committed in Germany against Witnesses??? That is what consoling looks like :rolleyes:

I confuses me that the witnesses cannot respond more empathetically with their community. I should not criticise I suppose. There is clearly no answer anyone can give to mollify any emotion or reasoning at all in this tragedy, but on every occasion without exception it seems, the watchtower’s prevailing attitude of isolation and segregation reigns supreme and stifles the need for open reasoning in their ministry with the public. The bible speaks of the issue. “The day of one’s death is better than the day of their birth”. Watchtower used to quote this in their various diatribes on why birthdays should not be celebrated, but its meaning is all to do with what has been accomplished in one’s life. At the dreadful and awfully poignant funerals to come the seemingly obligatory salutation to the congregation not to “eulogise the dead” will be intoned, before the values of the deceased will be briefly referred to before giving a witness about the hope as approved by watchtower. They treat the memorial in the same manner. Send out leaflets, attend, warn about mental illness and who should and should not partake. In Russia, witnesses are abandoned to the State, put in jail and silenced and watchtower concern is focussed, on what? Assets robbed by the State in Russia, while they themselves rob the brothers world wide of their Kingdom Halls! Faith has been monetised, traded and diminished in value and this tragedy is a symptom of what is going on behind closed doors in the GB meeting room. The opportunity for self examination will be buried with their victims.

Ars Longa Vita Brevis! (Art is long, life is short. Latin proverb). I can do both: Here is my Bible synopsis: “Be good or die”. (The king James bible has 783,137 words) . ”Some brevity, some wit”, as Churchill might say. So I take your point. My ancestry is Germanic, and “they had ways of making me talk”. You may like to consider your namesake though, who was given the luxury of Jehovah’s deliberation on a subject. Think what there is to contemplate after not only three very, very long days being partially digested and pickled in a horrendous vat of bile, dead fish and various other detritus, but then being vomited up to recline a sea of stomach acid, and bile in front of an horrified crowd of onlookers. So there is a value to be gained by pondering on a point. No one is obliged to read my humble and tedious offering, but I view it as time spent well in dredging the sea of reasoning for what it has to offer. Any gem of wit I can dredge up is bonus (hopefully) but I just like to discuss the subject matter. I am the proverbial member of the one thousand monkeys typing for a thousand years in the vain hope of producing the work of Shakespeare by chance alone. I don’t for one minute assume upon any one persons’ interest! 🦈👍

I saw this news item about the bomb incident yesterday morning on youtube. At 8:30 am eastern time Monday (the day after the Italy incident) there was a (this time non witness) massacre downtown Louisville,KY. Two hours later the congregation was contacted by the Org to send out a message to all the publishers to find out if any of us was in someway involved or injured or knew anybody who was. This was quite unexpected. I think somebody in Bethel is getting the jitters.

I know it's odd to bring up this thread out of the blue, but considering what happened in India with the attacker, the one in Germany came to mind. He had a book that you had to buy hardcopy but I managed to find an PDF of it. I was wondering if you guys were curious to see the file of the book since I can post it now.
