That's the rub. It takes years of training and practice to effectively pilot an F16. So the rumor is that those planes will be piloted by trained western pilots. It's easier for an experienced, english-speaking pilot to learn a little Ukrainian than for a "sure I can fly...a little" Ukrainian to learn to effectively fight with an F16. One mistake, like the Ruskies shooting down and IDing one of those pilots as active US/Euro military, and it's on. Putin's one of the most patient "leaders" I know of, but even he won't put up with that.
Most of the folks on this forum won't have to worry about that. I think most of us are too old.

Hard to say bro? a couple 3 or more not too spring chickens on this forum are convinced that the novel Covid-19 is a Legit thing. Still we've all been brought up thinking that some pesky micro-organism alien to the body infiltrates the body and makes it sick in spite of state of the art defense mechanisms that Jehovah has put there to kill said pesky aliens.

Managed to get myself kicked out of the army in Nov 74 as a con obj so as to make it into the .org before their 1975 end of days forecast. Baptized in December.

Hey, I resemble that remark. I owned my own janitorial company when I pioneered. A "company" of one with proceeds exceeding 25000 per year. Yes, I was wealthy...it was the "salad days", as they say.
I'd be interested to hear about your time in the military and your experience in getting out. During ' 74, regarding the org, I'm pretty sure you couldn't be in the military in any way, even if drafted, right? So I assume you began studying while in the army...

Missed going to Nam by a couple weeks.
The army back then was full of drunks,druggies and guys who were given the choice by a judge army or jail.
Racism was epidemic. Lots of guys coming back from Nam were in my unit and just didn’t give two hoots about anything.
I wasn’t baptized when I went in but knew the “truth” from a young age.
With 1975 approaching, there was a lot of pressure on me from my two baptized sisters to try and get out and be ready for the big event that never happened.
While down at fort hood I did study with an elder and his wife.
Those witness families down south were so warm and friendly. Always a picnic or meal to attend after Sunday meeting.
Not like the JWs up north ,so aloof and cold.
Put in for a discharge and finally succeeded in November 74 to get out.
Army wasn’t happy with me and put up a lot of resistance to retain me ( six month jail sentence) but thanks to Jehovah and a my hard headed resolve, I was finally out after just a month served with an honorable discharge to boot thanks to what I feel was intervention from above.
If I only knew then what I know now, I would’ve just stuck it out and saved myself a lot of grief.
Hindsight is always 20/20.

I wonder what division they will assign to transgender recruits. The paperwork alone will stall any advance. In Britain there is currently a huge political blow-out about a rapist whom decided on conviction that he was transgender so they put him in a women’s prison. Didn’t last long in there. Although Sweden is only planning to call up 3,000 civilians it may expand in the future. As the proxy war between NATO and Russia gets hotter, I expect more nations will ramp up conscription. Depending upon the allowed exemptions, it may present some challenges for draft-age JWs--sisters included perhaps? In the United States, the last time there was a draft was during the Vietnam War. The war was so unpopular the draft created blowback as many hippies burned their draft notices. The resistance grew so powerful that the war hawks were forced to curtail their bloody little war in Asia. The politicians learned a lesson. Since then the military has been all-volunteer. However, if Russia rolls over Ukraine, as they are in the process of doing, the Anglo war party may go ballistic and put boots on the ground in Ukraine. It would be stupid and insane, but hey, the world is being driven mad anyway. So, we shall see. I don't think JWs in America are up to marching off to prison as conscientious objectors.

I hope it doesn’t come to that. Perhaps in stead of prison, you could go for a non-combatant role. At least you have a chance then to do something positive for mankind. If prison in the states is as bad as it’s made out to be it may be an alternative. I don’t suppose it’s in context for one minute, but Jesus came to heal the sick, so it’s not a great step to care for the wounded of this system.

In the US I think there would be a list of preferential draftees like the last time. If you were married with children it could drop you a few pegs, as would being enrolled in the university when your number came up in the lottery or being a conscientious objector. With so many youth being frankly unsuitable, my guess is they would offer preferential "green card" status to millions of undocumented immigrants as a first move. Trannies are already being encouraged by offering them free sex change operations, so "women" in the armed forces might take on a whole new meaning 😉

You have a point there. A castrated male in a skirt, high on oestrogen is going to gladly mince off and do as he is told to prove he’s a man doing a woman’s job alongside the men going into battle. And we all know after the battle who is going to have to make the meal and do the washing up afterwards, not to mention the bedroom duties. A tran‘s job is never done.

ive talked with a few people in the congregation who compares putin to hitler and i get the distinct feeling that political neutrality only applies one way. So its okay to view russia with contempt and disgust but if you hold the US and Nato /west to the same standard then you are taking sides.. the worst part is they dont even see how their comments are regurgitated talking points from the Us /nato propaganda machinery..
No doubt the bias is there because Putin liquidated the Watchtower. It makes JWs easy prey for the Anglo propagandists casting Putin as Hitler. The reality, of course, is the exact opposite. After the coup in 2014, the Anglo military promoted, trained, and armed the Stephen Bandera Ukrainian nationalists, otherwise known as Nazis.

Same here AC. A friend, who's a "company man", calls Putin a bully regularly and points out why but shushes me for talking about politics if I bring up what's happening in the world. "Politics bad...unless I talk about it." He honestly comes across as brainwashed loon anyhow.
