The issue is one of values. People speak truth, lead moral lives, and respect others. Though they benefit to a degree as stated in the bible, our condition as proposed by our own sense of values is pro-rata with our introspection on the behaviour of others compared with ourselves. Abstinence from some forms of sin does not a Christian make. Being less of a sinner than others, does not redeem us. That is all that is being said. The qualifications of redemption are things spiritual, because we are irredeemably contaminated otherwise no matter in agreement with the truth or not.
