Who is Abaddon and Apollyon?

I agree, but we're not talking about a normal kingdom. I believe the description of the locusts fits with their being the 144,000, so that would make Apollyon Jesus. If Apollyon is Satan and the locusts are demons, I don't see why they would so closely resemble the description of the 144,000. Why wouldn't Jehovah just say they were demons released to torment those who take the MOTB? Why the riddle? IMHO, the reason for the riddle is so Satan can use it to trick Christians towards the end. Otherwise, it really doesn't matter either way. I highly doubt any of us here will EVER take the MOTB, but could this riddle be used against otherwise unsuspecting Christians? Does it even matter? I guess that's really why I started this thread, because I want to know.

Whoever they may be, what we can do is not to be part of those who do not have the seal of God at that point. But to be part of those “who observe the commandments of God and have the work of bearing witness concerning Jesus.”

Revelation 9:7-11 "And in appearance the locusts resembled horses prepared for battle; on their heads were what seemed to be crowns of gold, and their faces were like human faces, but they had hair like women’s hair. And their teeth were like those of lions, and they had breastplates like iron breastplates. And the sound of their wings was like the sound of horse-drawn chariots rushing into battle. Also, they have tails with stingers like scorpions, and in their tails is their authority to hurt the people for five months. They have over them a king, the angel of the abyss. In Hebrew his name is Abaddon, but in Greek he has the name Apollyon."

This angel is in control of the abyss as clearly stated in the above scripture. At Revelation 9:1 we read "The fifth angel blew his trumpet. And I saw a star that had fallen from heaven to the earth, and the key to the shaft of the abyss was given to him." The phrase "fallen from heaven" makes it sound like this angel is Satan, but why would Jehovah allow Satan to have control over the abyss? And who are the locusts of the abyss? Aren't they the 144,000 after they've been gathered by Jesus? At Revelation 1:17-18 we learn that Jesus has the keys to death and the grave, otherwise known as the abyss. "... And he laid his right hand on me and said: “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last, and the living one, and I became dead, but look! I am living forever and ever, and I have the keys of death and of the Grave." We know for sure the angel of the abyss isn't Satan after we read Revelation 20:1-3 "And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven with the key of the abyss and a great chain in his hand. He seized the dragon, the original serpent, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for 1,000 years. And he hurled him into the abyss..."

Since most of the world believes Abaddon/Apollyon is Satan, could there be a mass deception brewing regarding who this angel is? Is this how Satan tricks Christians into believing he is good and Jesus is bad? Does it even matter?

I wish that I had some insight into these things. I can only read prophesy for what it is.

Hey Robert, do you think this will somehow factor into any end times deceptions/shenanigans by Satan?

As the 8th king, Satan intends to set up a counterfeit kingdom in which he'll try to seduce the yet to be sealed anointed and GC. I believe what we're seeing now is Satan unleashing the atheists, nihilists and anarchists in order to identify those who are perspective anointed and members of the GC. Jehovah is allowing the madness we see in order to test our love of the Truth as well as our faith. Satan already knows he's successfully stumbled the people who will bring about WWIII, and those who love and embrace the decadence of this system, but he wants to prove Jehovah wrong by stumbling the anointed and the GC... that's his number 1 goal. This leads me to believe we could soon see a fake revival of Biblical values, possibly in the form of Noahide Laws or some other Luciferian religion, that mimics, but also subtly perverts Jehovah's Law.

Jehovah has given Satan plenty of opportunities to stumble people, anointed or otherwise. And the Devil has had a fair amount of success. However, once the sealing is concluded that means that the calling and choosing has been completed. It means the Christian era is concluded. That is what the conclusion of the system is. God then presents the Tempter with an irresistible temptation. If Satan can flip just one of the sealed ones he will succeed in embarrassing Jehovah. After all, God has already decreed there shall be 144,000. 143,999 won't work. But the Devil has to try. Hence, the hooks in the jaw analogy.

Thanks for sending me that Robert. It’s very instructive and very well argued. It Helps me a great deal to get a fuller picture.
