Why do the Evangelicals insist the Great Tribulation will be 7 years?

I don’t believe it would be 3.5 years.Someone suggested that it would be that long and I was only highlighting how insane that would be.
This is going to be a little bit long, but will explain a lot and will give your like a summarized insight of what I think and have learnt from Robert of what will happen in the future.
I never said that the Great tribulation would last 3 and half years... That's what many evangelicals believe actually. I said ALL the events that we know are going to happen could happen during a 7 years period, starting with WW3 and all the other things. It made me feel angry and offended that you used sarcasm. It makes me feel angry when people do that, especially to mock. I know you have done that before in other posts I think and that makes me feel angrier because that's not the way people here should behave. But let me explain you what do I think this way. We know everything starts will WW3. Then, the famine, pestilences, hyperinflation, etc... All that might take at least some months or weeks. But I don't think it's likely that all that might take weeks. It's too little time for all that. That will take at least some months. That will lead to the great tribulation that will shake the foundations of this world as Revelation 6 shows, starting with the fall of the United States and London with their allies. We also know that that will lead to the fall of all the governments of the world, to anarchy. So, for some time, the world will have no governments or political authorities and it seems that no economic system to a certain level. That's the great tribulation at its climax. The foundations of this world will be shaken along with the heavens like Jesus said. So, maybe we will see the governments in a very desperate situation like never before and at the same time people running towards them and the institutions of this world until all of them are destroyed or collapse or something like that. But all of the sudden, before everything is lost, the great tribulation is cut short. Jehovah intervenes and does not allow humanity to be erased from the face of the earth. By that time, 2 billion souls will have died. People will be truly frightened because society will not exist. The civilization that we have known for centuries will have come to and end. It will be a horrible world. But again, and this time on the other side, Satan will appear (using his many many false prophets) as the savior of the world, of mankind. He might well accuse Jehovah of wanting to destroy the world and will offer mankind an alternative. He will use great wonders and portents and miracles to convince mankind and make it be on his side this time. He will no longer be hidden, but will show himself as he wants to be seen. He might even use extraterrestrial appearances or something similar, something impressive. Mankind is dragged into that, and the beast that was "dead" or fatally wounded is revived as the eighth king. All the power is given to it and humanity follows it with wonder saying "who is like the beast and who can battle it?". They will worship it because it will appear as the savior of the world's end, something that prevented that. And in that moment is when the 3 and half years start officially. So, all the previous events are outside of that and will take some time.

On the other side, God's people will be divided. The war, famine, pestilences, and great tribulation itself will wake them up. Many will be stumbled. Many will betray one another, like the Bible shows. All those events will show what's in everyone's heart. The faithful ones will obviously attach themselves to Jehovah and will feel lost (the sheep will be scattered) seeing everything that's going on around them and will beg Jehovah for mercy, forgiveness and guidance like the Bible also shows many times. After that, and right before the reign of the beast, but after the cut short of the tribulation, the chosen ones will be sealed. Jesus will appear to them and give them His approval. The great crowd will also be gathered. They will be then one people and will work together to give the world a final and strong witness. The holy spirit will be poured upon them and that will make all of them unstoppable and fearless. The chosen ones will act like lions, as the Bible says. The great crowd will also act in a very brave way. The holy spirit will be poured upon them too as Joel 2 shows.

Meanwhile, those who continue to attach to falsehood and will show what's in their hearts betraying their brothers and sisters in the middle of all that chaos will know that they have been rejected and will look for guidance in the wrong sources as a desperate way (maybe) to convince themselves that they are not doomed or as a revenge. By that time (if not before), the man of lawlessness will have completely come out to the fore and will be visible for everyone. Satan's seed will show itself. By that time, the faithful ones will have listened to Jesus' order of fleeing from the organization to the symbolic mountains of the Kingdom. This will surely be condemned by the man of lawlessness and they will surely or at least probably accuse those who had fled of apostates as they do in some way now. (It seems that some things will never change). And will probably, if not sure, instigate the brothers to report to the authorities these brothers (as they will not belong to the organization, they will not care about giving them the worst treatment possible). Besides, perhaps dominated by the fear of being destroyed by the beast, they will collaborate with them as the Bible shows and they have done already in some way. They will act maybe in a subtle, but more open way, that for the eyes of the chosen ones and the Great crowd will surely be seen as an evil thing.
So, there will be an open war between the rejected and condemned and the faithful ones. Lead on one side by the beast and the man of lawlessness, and on the other side by the chosen ones who will have been sealed. Nevertheless, the persecution will start before the beast starts its reign.

So, here we are. After all that, humanity will be divided. On one side, the doomed will follow the beast and will be enemies of the Kingdom and the faithful ones. By that time, the first phase of the harvest (and all the other illustrations given by Jesus about the separation of the wicked and the faithful inside Jehovah's house) will have been accomplished and will be over because the unfaithful will have been bundled up to be destroyed and the faithful will have been sealed.
Then, the faithful ones will start giving their witness to the world and the wicked ones that were among God's people. Their witness will be so strong and blunt, that they will surely gnash their teeth and look for their death, knowing their fate is sealed and that they can't do anything about it. They will be very angry and actually the people of the world will be angry too.
The chosen ones will be presented before governors and kings and all the people in positions of authority that will work for the NWO for a witness to them. They will condemn this world and will give their witness with the help of the great crowd for three and a half years. They will want to kill them, but that will not be allowed immediately. They will have to listen to them. Perhaps the people of the world will hear their testimony because their words and what they will say will be in TV or social media or internet or any media that exists at that time after the beast is killed and revived. They will condemn this world and the beast because of all that is mentioned in Habakkuk and other books of the Bible. They will condemn the genocide committed against mankind and the disgusting filth and extreme corruption of this world. So, there is no doubt that it deserved to be destroyed when Jehovah acts against it.

Once those three years and half had passed, the chosen ones will be given in the hands of the beast to be killed. They will be killed, but the in the blink of an eye, will be transformed into immortal and very powerful spirits that will make war against this world. For a short moment, the people of the world will celebrate this, but it will not be for too long. Once that happens, the seven bowls of wrath will be poured upon earth. The beast (maybe knowing its fate is sealed) will finish their genocide and will kill as many as possible (like the Nazis and other armies have done when they know they will lose). Along with what is destroyed by the beast, Babylon the Great, the great harlot that will have helped the beast to accomplish what it and Satan wanted and will have participated in the killing of the chosen ones and persecuted them surely along with the great crowd, will be destroyed. Nobody will help her. She will be completely, utterly destroyed. Her luxurious "lifestyle" fed by millions of people's distress and suffering will end horribly. It will be shamefully replaced by mourning, famine and death. Along with the great harlot, and for being part of her, a third part of mankind will go down to eternal destruction. In that way, all the blood shed by religion throughout history will have been avenged. So, a big part of the beast's work will consist in this. Finally, after Babylon the Great is destroyed, the rest of world that remains will still be with all of its forces against Jehovah, even after all the horrible things that will happen to them as Revelation 16 shows. After that, Armageddon will come. All the survivors of all these horrible and astonishing events will die in a horrendous way. Jehovah will express his anger as never before in the history of humanity. Jehovah will use all the forces of nature to destroy what is left of this world and its wicked and unrepentant inhabitants. This will mark the end of the elite that has governed this world for millennia, the end of the armies for war, the end of hatred and all the horrible things that, sadly, have plagued mankind. Besides, at that moment, if not before, the wicked ones that were once inside God's people will be destroyed. So, the weeds, the evil slave, the unsuitable fishes, and all the other symbolic wicked groups will be thrown into the fiery furnace, into Gehenna, to the everlasting fire, along with the goats that opposed to Jehovah and Jesus and did not help his brothers. But, on the other hand, under Divine protection will be the great crowd that will survive all that and will be witnesses for all eternity of all that. In that way, all Jesus' illustrations will be completely accomplished. The chosen ones will be in heaven and the great crowd will inherit the earth. A new fresh start will be presented to mankind, to the survivors, while Satan will see all his world being destroyed to be then thrown into the abyss and locked there for 1000 years.

So, as you can see there is more than the three years in a half. There will be some more time added to that. How much longer? We do not know. But the period for all this might last 7 years. I'm not sure about that, but it's an interesting possibility for me and I know that others too, sir.

If everything starts with WWIII as you say and according to world experts it has actually already started by blowing up the gas pipes 1 and 2, would it be possible that the '7 years' already have started then, I wonder?

Luis, you have a keen grasp of events to soon unfold,
How exciting it will be to relate the events all generations since Adam’s day were eager to see, namely the battle of Armageddon and the days leading up to it, to all those returning from the dead to life under the Kingdom.
Despite all the troubles and suffering, we are so privileged to perhaps be the generation to transition from one world system to the new one.

Luis, I don’t understand how you drew the conclusion that I was being disrespectful of your comment as no sarcasm or mockery was intended.
I was simply pointing out that the duration of the first, most intense part of the Great Tribulation before Jehovah cuts it short, couldn’t be 42 months long,
For one, the Bible doesn’t say how long the period of time will be between when Jesus takes his throne and thereafter tosses Satan out of heaven to when the Tribulation gets cut short by Jehovah.
The only time period we know of is the 42 month long rule of the eighth king.
My reasoning is that it wont take long to bring mankind to the brink of extinction.
Two billion die but six billion survive.
With the use of nuclear weapons and total collapse of food supply chains and no access to life sustaining medications that so many depend on, it wont take long to kill off two billion people especially in light of how weak and compromised in health most people are now in these times.
I think if the system was in a total state of collapse, which I believe it will be, it’s hard to even conceive anyone would survive a year let alone 3.5.

In a way it is. It's a please don't hurt me & I'll worship you. Satan is probably laughing about it due to his claim in Job's day where he said: "Skin in behalf of skin. A man will give everything on behalf of his soul."
and i BET HE WOULD TOO! put him in a human body the same way Jesus was, let HIS OWN FOLLOWERS here on Earth handle him and see how TOUGH he would talk. It would be a very quick prison fight. I doubt he has had to face his own mortality yet still being in heaven.

I see Satan as master manipulator though. He would have to play his cards differently but know when to strike when the opportunity is there.

With all the disasterous attempts by empire to complete their Malthusian agenda even with thier masters help, how will they get on without it while defending his heavenly position?
