Really! Life has had us so busy I think we’ve forgotten a lot.
I remember I bought the audio tape this was off of in 1981 and would constantly play it!
I remember when this came out and was on the radio. I would have been ~15. We used to spend a fair amount of time at the record store growing up and I remember buying the 45 Single record. I can't remember what was on the flip side of it, but it was also good if I remember right. I would listen to it, and play it on the piano by ear.

This song brings me back. Music is amazing that way, has always been a big part of me. Thanks for the memories!

I did a search and found it in about a minute. Things did not work that way in 1980.
Here's the flip side of that 45:

You’re welcome. 😊 I’ve always loved music too. That’s great for you to be able to play the piano by ear! I had friends who did too. Personally, I could play a little guitar and the keyboard…not much to brag about though. But I do love to sing (not saying that I’m a good singer either) But I don’t let that stop me from singing anyway. 🎶

I wish I could hear you play Cool Change on the piano. That would be nice.

I vaguely remember this song but I really like it….especially love hearing the clarinet.

I also was wondering what the lyrics meant…as I usually do with so many songs. Many times I find it very interesting to know the meaning behind songs. 🎼

If you like clarinet, this may appeal to you. (Probably a bit before your time!).

I remember hearing this song throughout the years of my growing up. I never knew the name of it though. It reminds me of a time when I was growing up in New Orleans before everything started to change in a bad way.

But listening to this song just brings my mind all back to that better time, and I seem to be captivated when I hear someone playing the clarinet. Is that silly or what?

Thank you for sharing @BARNABY THE DOG. 😊

Not at all silly. Music is custom made by Jehovah to interpret that which is beyond language to describe, yet the emotion senses as fact The “Sense of what Happens”. It is not instinct, but an individual concept of life, exclusive to that one in its relevance and meaning. Something that is unique to each of us, but shared with all of us in its commonality. Of further interest is the fact that it is the similar reasoning behind faith and in its individual value to Jehovah, and the root warning behind judging others by our own standards. Far from being silly, I would say that you have touched on the very essence of what is within us. Note how others describe their sense of anointing. It is a sense, rather than a factual description, a commitment defined through belief that is confirmed. Being blinded did not give Paul his faith, but his commitment was defined from within.

This dad music 😂 My father used to listen to this song. Needles to say my rebellious teenage me did not agree with his taste in music. He liked the Shadows too (still don’t like them either 😁)
If I remember correctly, it was written as a theme tune to a TV show. I cannot recall the show, only that it was a well written story and which made the tune very relevant. But TV then was a different animal to that which it is today. If you have half a mind to watch it, that is probably all you will need! I shall try it out on my great grandson and let you know what he thinks of it. I used to get on down to Glen Miller, Satchmo, and other big bands. Now I would quite appreciate something to get on up to that doesn’t require a walking stick. Your dad had great taste.

Well @BARNABY THE DOG. I love to dance. I’m not ready for the walking stick yet! 😂
So, although you may be physically unable you have the ‘I wanna get up and move/go’ attitude!

Ehh! don’t fret, in paradise you’ll be dancing like Fred Astaire! 😁

They’re really good! You think they would’ve had more views on YouTube.

Anyway,, what I thought particularly interesting was the segment, Mason Dixon Line. One of the band members said they went canoeing down the Mississippi River! Wow! I’m sure they must’ve been further North because in the lower (south) Mississippi there’s a lot of dangerous currents and then there’s the industry…definitely wouldn’t be fishing there.

I’ve never canoed down the Mississippi but I’ve been canoeing several times over the years. Usually in Mississippi and Louisiana though. It’s a real adventure for sure! 😉

In 2012 my friend and i only had each other, although we has family in truth. Then she was unfairly expelled as in many cases. We went many years without speaking to each other. Before that she "given" me a song in Spanish called "Respira" and i classiquera,"Stay on these roads" by A-ha. I still get chills when near the end of the song the vocalist yells out a long "stay"
