Lyrics

Mandolin Rain

The song came and went
Like the times that we spent
Hiding out from the rain under the carnival tent
I laughed and she'd smile
It would last for awhile
You don't know what you got till you lose it all again
Listen to the mandolin rain
Listen to the music on the lake
Listen to my heart break every time she runs away
Listen to the banjo wind
A sad song drifting low
Listen to the tears roll
Down my face as she turns to go
A cool evening dance
Listening to the bluegrass band takes the chill
From the air till they play the last song
I'll do my time
Keeping you off my mind but there's moments
That I find, I'm not feeling so strong
Listen to the mandolin rain
Listen to the music on the lake
Listen to my heart break every time she runs away
Listen to the banjo wind
A sad song drifting low
Listen to the tears roll
Down my face as she turns to go
Running down by the lake shore
She did love the sound of a summer storm
It played on the lake like a mandolin
Now it's washing her away again
Listen to the mandolin rain
Listen to the music on the lake
Listen to my heart break every time she runs away
Listen to the banjo wind
A sad song drifting low
Listen to the tears roll
Down my face as she turns to go
The boat's steaming in
I watch the side wheel spin and I
Think about her when I hear that whistle blow
I can't change my mind
I knew all the time that she'd go
But that's a choice I made long ago
Listen to the mandolin rain
Listen to the music on the lake
Listen to my heart break every time she runs away
Listen to the banjo wind
A sad song drifting low
Listen to the tears roll
Down my face as she turns to go

You know I saw this thread for weeks and never opened it because I couldn't be bothered. I finally looked at it a few weeks ago and I am glad I did. Such unusual and interesting picks. I really enjoyed all the things I stopped and played even if I didn't have the hour or two I used. Here are my contributions, all very different:

Beautiful. Thank you for sharing.

Thought you all might enjoy this. My Brother and i left pioneer school and this was playing on the radio, sent chills up my spine. I'm talking 1988/1989. Sorry about the hair

This music by Hauser Benedictus (by Karl Jenkins) is some of the most beautiful music I’ve ever heard. But I do love this kind of music anyway. Thanks for sharing.

A Thousand Years is one of my favorites too.

Proud Mary with a doubt is 👍🏼

Aren’t you glad you found this thread A B?

Beautiful song KevinB…thanks for sharing. The words are very telling…a new world to come.
BTW you don’t have to be sorry for the hair…that was their style. ☺️

From da Cajun country ☺️
I know that singer. She also plays drum with a New Orleans band. I think she could even get them barn dancing at a Kingdom Hall. “A now ya’ll get on down and praise da lord with a good ‘ol Country Cajun barn dance with Amy-lu on vocals. Yeeehaaaa…”
