Haha, awesome video and song. Never heard of the band before. Thanks.

It's amazing that Jehovah will attach himself to lowly, sinful men and women to get great things done. I think he loves that. He loves an underdog, if they're righteously inclined...of course. 1 Cor 1:27-29

"But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28 God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, 29 so that no one may boast before him." NIV
I swear there are days i want to kick your teeth in, but thank Jah I'm not that kind of man

Your welcome Ms Ladyblue , I wonder where Mama Cass of the Mama's and Papa's got the Idea for the song , as I know she also got caught up in the Hippie drug culture of the time , as I did too . Was it the New World the Bible speaks about ? Or the Hippie idea of the coming Age of Aquarius ?
If you remember, this song was released (1969 or ‘70) because it came along and expressed hope in the midst of despair ( remember the ‘peace and love‘ generation?) The message it sent appealed to so many. But the establishment considered it as protesting! Hmm, kind of like they do now; ‘good is bad and bad is good.’
The video I posted above shows some scenes that was happening then.

At the time I really didn’t understand everything that was happening or why. I was only 13 years old and thought hippies were ‘cool.’
I was too young to go to Woodstock (understandable) Around the area I lived at the time they had similar small love festivals I wasn’t allowed to attend either. Oh well, it was for the best. I tried to get as close as I could to look’ like a hippie, lol. I loved the ‘scene’ back then but when we look back, we begin to realize what all of that evolved into.

But then, when you learn the truth about Jehovah and his purposes everything comes more into focus as why we need his Kingdom to rule. This is the true PEACE and LOVE we can look forward to. That’s the real ‘new world coming.‘

yes I remember ( some of it anyway ) the peace & love generation , it appealed to me so much- the whole Hippie scene , I dove in head first all the way . I was 13 in 1969 but already smoking pot, doing LSD, hanging out with all the younger hippies & some older, my Hippie older brother and his friends, we even tried to go to Woodstock because we lived in NJ on the northern border with NY state so we were close , we didn't know it was Woodstock until the movie came out a year later, and boy were we mad for not going , the older hippie friend of my older brother ( nicknamed Rubber - I don't know why ? ) was going - taking me & my friend Curtis our friend Mary and his two friends, but as the traffic backed up he got paranoid ( holding bags of Marijuana ) and turned back home, he said its just a concert and there will be others. Yeah just a concert. Anyway I was on the Magical Mystery Tour so to speak from then on. Even though Woodstock lasted only 3 day's & 3 nights, for me the Hippie lifestyle lasted about 8 years, the most amazing thing is i lived through it , I must say - I really Loved the music ! Today I still love Classic Rock from time to time, But I try not to listen to much these day's because- now that Marijuana is legal, I just might go buy some, after hearing some Santana - Soul sacrifice.
Love Peace and Happiness to all you brothers & Sisters ✌️🧔

Wow! @David Peter you were doing all that at 13 years old??? 😳 My jaw dropped when read this lol. For sure you lived life in the fast lane at such a young age. I don’t mean to sound like I’m being judgmental or anything because many of us had a wild past. Lol, I have a granddaughter who’s 13. I was also 13 in 1969 and hadn’t even tried drinking alcohol yet. When I was 14 years old my cousin and a friend of mine came over to ask me if I wanted to try some orange sunshine (LSD) I couldn’t bring myself to do and have never tried it in my life. When my cousin came back later that night she was trippin bad! It was disturbing and I was scared watching how bad it was affecting her. It scared me enough to never want to try it ever! I mostly smoked marijuana all through the 70’s though.
But yeah, you were on a Magical Mystery tour alright! Lol
So, thanks for sharing your “wild story” from years past DP. ✌️ 👩

Ms Ladyblue , yes i see you were a hippie too through the 70's, it was mostly marijuana every day for me too, i only did LSD about 8 or so times during all my teenage years, but i did have one bad trip though. And there were some other drugs too, So yes my teen years were very wild, My family moved and we lived in Fla. my teenage years, Lots of Rock concerts, Beach party's, keg party's, and a whole lot of good old Rock & Roll . It all left me very empty though and hungry for meaning . In the middle of all this my Mother got baptized as a Witness in 1974, well- whenever i came home after day's of partying I would hang about and rest up ( Sleep for day's ) . I would read the Watchtower or Awake & books she had laying around, listen in on the Bible study's the Witnesses were having with my younger brothers & sisters, after some time they would study with me in my flat black painted bedroom with the blacklight and fluorescent posters on the wall ,hanging beads & all, me with my hair half way down my back. It was funny to see their faces, it actually seemed to move fast for me, I was sick of my empty life, it seemed none of my friends cared about anything but getting high ,if you didn't have any pot - it was okay then Dave, we'll catch ya later man. But mostly i began to love the God of the Bible Jehovah & His Son Jesus, also the promises of the Righteous New Earth, The Bible made sense in the hands of the Witnesses. And also i have to say I loved my Mother and could not go on hurting her with my lifestyle any longer. I may have had a wild life starting very young (13 ), But I also made it out very young ( 21 ) when most young people are just getting started with a wild life. I got baptized in 1978 , became a M.S. in 1982. I have two daughters and one step daughter- all wonderful ! as are my two grandkids a boy & girl by my stepdaughter, and five grandkids by one of my other daughters 4 boys 1 girl .the oldest 19 the youngest 4. I'm thankful to have a big and happy family ( as far as the Watchtower , I tip toed away in 1998- after 20 years ) But that's another story for some other time.
Wishing you and your granddaughter all the best of times .

Seems like so many of us go through life making stupid decisions and do so many things that we later regret although some were glad to go through it for whatever reasons. Most of us, like yourself come full circle at a time when you know you’re ready to start taking life more seriously. Jehovah put it in us all a spiritual need that is a part of that process.

It’s nice to know you came through it and was able to come to learn about Jehovah. Now, we have so much to look forward to as we move ahead in life. You have a large family you’re able to spend time with and that’s a wonderful thing. Never take for granted that precious gift.

Thanks for your well wishes to me. And the same goes here from me…wishing you and your family all the best of times.

Psalm 127: 3-5 says this:
“Look! Sons are an inheritance from Jehovah; The fruit of the womb is a reward. 4 Like arrows in the hand of a mighty man, So are the sons of one’s youth. 5 Happy is the man who fills his quiver with them. They will not be put to shame, For they will speak with enemies in the city gate.”

thanks - Ms Ladyblue , yes i agree , many of us go through life making stupid decisions and most of those (not all ) are when we were teenagers, thank goodness , But there are also times i wonder if I would have become one of Jehovah's Witnesses if i knew then what i know now ? Still I have to say and i think most of us here would say ; we are so glad for the many good things we learned about Jehovah God , Jesus Christ and the basic Bible doctrines.

I also don't think I would ever have gotten away from the destructive path i was on , if not for the Witnesses teaching me the truths in the Bible and me coming to know and drawing close to Jesus Christ & His Father. I know you & many others on here feel the same . I'm looking forward to the day when all things will be made right with Jehovah's organization , and all Christians , when we all will truly speak the pure language of Truth .
Forget your troubles come on get Happy you better chase all your cares away - Shout Hallelujah ! Come on get Happy - were headed for the Judgment Day !
