Regarding your question on how do Christians “flee”, I think it is obviously not literal. As per Brother Robert King’s article he points to Matthew 24:23-28 as the evidence that the admonition to flee applies to Christians in the future. I would agree with him and I think those scriptures also indicate how we are to “flee”. We are not to fall for the false prophets saying the Christ is here or there. The chosen ones cannot be deceived because they will have seen Jesus, but the rest of us could be deceived. So this matches what I had previously been thinking that we flee by not being under the control of the Watchtower Org and not blindly believing their lies. I have no doubt more lies are to come to fulfill these scriptures. We must test everything to see if it matches scriptures. We are told to do that at 1 John 4:1 and Jesus commends the symbolic congregation of Ephesus for testing those who say they are apostles but they are not, see Revelation 2:2.
Of course, we cannot know how every detail will be fulfilled until we see it. It is so wonderful that we are all on this forum and examining the scriptures. Let’s try to commit them to memory so that when the fulfillment happens and due to Jehovah’s holy spirit we will then recognize it. Here is the reason that we cannot know everything right now,
Isaiah 48:5-8: “I told you long ago. Before it came about, I caused you to hear it,
So that you could not say, ‘My idol did this; My carved image and my metal image commanded this.’ You have heard and seen all of this. Will you not declare it? From now on I am announcing new things to you, Guarded secrets that you have not known. Only now are they being created, and not long ago,
Things that you never heard before today, So that you cannot say, ‘Look! I already know them.’ No, you have not heard, you have not known, And in the past your ears were not opened. For I know that you are very treacherous, And you have been called a transgressor from birth.”
I think we all are grateful that we learned the basic truth about Jehovah through the organized preaching and meetings of Jehovah’s Witnesses. And, now we have come to this forum and are learning about prophecies and what is to happen in the days ahead. But even if someone, like Brother Robert King, was able to understand every detail, would it not be a temptation to blindly follow him, which is the same error that we are seeing with those following the Governing Body? So, Jehovah has reserved or kept secret some of the understanding of his prophecies because he wants us to rightly give the credit to him and to look to him in full faith.
I feel as the Ethiopian Eunuch when he admitted he needed guidance to understand the bible. But through diligent study, reasoning, considering valid viewpoints and prayer, I think we can have faith that Jehovah will continue to guide us. We should continue to dig into his word and keep it fresh in mind so that when he chooses to reveal it to us, we will then know how we should act and where we should go.
