I can’t recall when I first heard of this relationship with the UN as an NGO, but it was years ago and I accepted the Watchtower explanation. But I didn’t really look into it. Now of course I scoff at their statements such as the one Robert King quotes at the beginning of this chapter:

“Because of published allegations by opposers that we have secret links to the United Nations, a number of branches have inquired about the matter and we have replied.”
– Governing Body of Jehovah’s Witnesses 2001 –

I suspect their relationship just went underground. But this chapter explains a lot about how and why the articles in the Watchtower and Awake have changed substantially in the last 20+ years. So, its important to notice the real evidence of what happened between the UN and the Watchtower.

I listened to it at least 15 years ago...probably closer to 20 years...but I have it in a file someone gave me entitled "talks" and it might not have been Ciero.;..but I'm almost positive it was....

But I know for a fact i have it!

The problem with that is if i have it right in my memory. My memory is very good, like ridiculous good, but only because I remember certain things and know how to find those things but if i have the wrong detail wrong, it's a monkey wrench into the whole thing. I'll find it, sooner or later!

I might have to load those talks on my phone and just suffer through listening to them again. The other issue is, it might be a talk that isn't labeled as a Cicero talk! But I'm like 99.9% its one of his talks!

Yeah I understand, I thought it might save you some time in searching. Surely if he mentions "library" and "card" it should produce some results which would be easier to filter... I don't know I just thought it might be helpful.

That's the problem, I don't remember those things that precisely. But maybe library...I'll look into that...I really need to find the talk so it refreshes my memory... I might have the specific details completely wrong, but the "jist" so to speak i do not have wrong.
 
let me tell you what i remember...and my memeory is very good about this, but DO NOT QUOTE this...this is going to be my best recolection, which is very good, but will not be a quote and I will for a fact get some of this wrong.

He's basically saying, that the "apostates" were accusing them of the UN partnership, and how ridiculous that was, and how they just had it so they had access to the UN library in NY!

Now let me give you this perspective....I was no where near being a PIMO when I heard this talk. I believed what he said! So this is not at all colored by my leaving JW...this is my recollection while still a PIMI!

Yeah as soon as they say apostate it's as if some kind of switch happens in people's minds. They have some words in their arsenal ready to use for all sorts of situations. Look up NLP (neuro-linguistic programming) and then see how they (and any leaders) use it to control. Trump is probably very good case study to see it in action, with his gesticulation, use of simple language and repetition.
