Chapter 11 - The Partnership formerly known as Strange Bedfellows

So well said. thank you. What a great way to start a conversation with my coworkers(or anybody for that matter) using those first two sentences.
For me it really gives a better understanding of Rev 18:23. NWT renders it "spiritistic practices" but some others say "sorceries".

I always thought of the original UN issue as more buffoonery vs. plotting adultery. Right or wrong I think they chose an expedient way to get library access even if it was lost on them that they didn't need to do it that way. It was unsophisticated to not think that some day this wouldn't look good. I don't think the stuff in the magazines fooled anyone, any rank and file witness would look right past it (although some did wonder about the many UN references.). It wasn't a good witness for the people that work at the U.N. though. Once exposed it makes the organization look duplicitous.

I don't see any problem with all the current NGO affiliations as long as they are not signing some sort of pledge of allegiance.

Thew were required by contract to disseminate the UN info. The issue is giving the UN the platform for it despite identifying them as the scarlet-colored beast. And when caught, they tried to lie about it.

The problem with the UN and ALL of its sub-groups and NGO’s are that they do NOT have Jehovah’s backing and they cannot accomplish their goals. Think of a person who claims to be able to cure you of an illness that will be terminal without the proper intervention. If the person making the claim of having the ability to cure you is nothing more than a charlatan then he is committing a crime. He will likely hasten your death and at the very least will distract you from pursuing the real cure. That is the problem with the UN and all of its sub-groups and NGO’s. They not only don’t have the ability to bring about peace but they in fact are instrumental in causing war and suffering, often to the very ones they claim to protect. That isn’t to say that they don’t at times provide some stability but as the scriptures say Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. Should we applaud Satan for his disguise?

Here is a quote from Robert King’s book with the exact agreement signed by an organization representing Russian Jehovah’s Witnesses (isn’t that interesting):

“Just what is the Administrative Center for Jehovah’s Witnesses in Russia? It is another non-governmental organization set up to represent Jehovah’s Witnesses. Even considering that it is not an NGO in the same way that the Watchtower was an international NGO associated with the UN-DPI, it serves a similar purpose. The OSCE petition that the Jehovah’s Witnesses in Russia signed stated:

“The undersigned NGOs have all valued the Human Dimension meetings, throughout the years and in their various formats, as significant for both governments and NGOs to raise human rights concerns in the participating states. Consequently, they have actively participated in them with reports and interventions, and have been encouraging other NGOs to do likewise.”

The petition verifies that the subsidiary Russian NGO, representing the Watchtower and Jehovah’s Witnesses, willingly participated with numerous other NGOs, including the Church of Scientology, in raising “human rights concerns in participating states.” By signing the petition, the Administrative Center for Jehovah’s Witnesses in Russia admits to actively “encouraging other NGOs” to take up the cause of human rights interventions. And, of course, the evidence is overwhelming that the parent organization in Brooklyn used its resources to “raise human rights concerns.”

Even in the media you have persons ,like a Tucker Carlson or Gerald Celente, who are experts at identifying evil in government and who decry wickedness but haven't a clue and therefore never point you to the only real solution to the problem namely Gods Kingdom.

The bible talks about spiritual prostitution and prostitution is something as imperfect humans we unfortunately have a lot of knowledge about since it is known as the world’s oldest profession. There are a lot of reasons why someone would choose to prostitute themselves, but I think the primary reasons are often a desire for “easy” money and it makes them feel powerful over others. It is the opposite of having a good motive. Chapter 11 ends with these comments:

In 1951, the September 15th issue of the Watchtower boasted that Jehovah’s Witnesses were ‘refusing to enter partnership with the abominable League of Nations or the United Nations.’

O how things have changed!

No wonder Jehovah expresses his own disappointment and astonishment at the deplorable hypocrisy of his organized people, saying at
Isaiah 1:21: ‘O how the faithful town has become a prostitute!’

In view of the Watchtower’s practicing the very thing they have roundly condemned Christendom for doing, it can be better understood why Jehovah long ago stated at
Ezekiel 7:27: ‘According to their way I shall act toward them, and with their judgments I shall judge them; and they will have to know that I am Jehovah.’”

We cannot read hearts but we can guess at the motivation of a person or organization by not only what they do but what they try to hide.

Would be interesting to disseminate how the tune changed after this affair was exposed. I remember during the 90's almost every Awake!, in the "watching the world" section had some info that involved the UN or its affiliates. Although it wasn't blatant support of it, looking back it seems obvious that they tried to gain favor with them. So since I haven't been a regular reader for the past few years I'd like to know if they still "promote" it. I mean besides a few quotes they've done lately... I know that even though they disasociated themselves as NGO they still attend OSCE and some others iirc. Based on that I assume that there has to be some hidden contract that obliges them to disseminate info.
I too started to notice the “subtle” support for the UN. It was puzzling to me especially not having been too long after studying the Revelation book or Wtchtower studies referring to the UN as the scarlett colored wild beast. Puzzling indeed…

Who disfellowshipped you? @kenmuldoon55
It was just a contrived scenario Ms Ladyblue highlighting the WT org’s policy on YMCA membership.
WT 1979 Jan 1 “questions from readers”

Quote from that piece:
“Nor is his membership merely an entry pass, as when a person buys a theater ticket. Membership means that one has become an integral part of this organization founded with definite religious objectives, including the promotion of interfaith. Hence, for one of Jehovah’s Witnesses to become a member of such a so-called “Christian” association would amount to apostasy.

I don’t know if they’ve changed their stance on the matter since

Oh! I understand now. 🤦‍♀️

This reminds me when my husband was in business, a/c heat and electrical. There were different churches that liked his work and called him regularly to service their units or whatever other problems they might have including electrical.

During that time in a few Watchtower study articles it would ask if we should be doing any kind of work for BTG. He really didn’t think it was wrong. I had my reservations about it but wouldn’t say much.

But I thought, it’s not like you’re joining the church and after all just like any other business or residence who want professionals to do the job that needs to be done. It’s not like he was helping BTG to stay in business lol. 🙄 How idiotic.

He just went about his business without saying anything working for those respectable patrons.

Given the watchtower‘s reasoning for joining the United Nations, and assuming that those churches had their own library, it would have been okay for your husband to fix their radiators and heating just so that he could use their library, rather than sign up to support the UN as watchtower did. Seems more than reasonable to me.

It’s petty and ridiculous for WT to try and govern so many aspects of a Christians life.
What did Peter and the other apostles decide when the much debated circumcision issue was raised?
The didn’t want to burden the congregations with endless petty details of what should be done or not done in a Christian’s life.
Just the important issues like abstaining from idolatry and blood were emphasized.

Exactly Ken! The truth sets us free.....not into bondage!

interesting Watchtower article about the YMCA. i will have to print that one for my records. They even go so far as to call someone an apostate for there association to the YMCA. So its ok to join the UN for access to there library , thats not apostacy, but joining the YMCA to access gym equipment is apostacy. ✔️. We have an elderly sister in our kingdom hall. Her doctors told her to swim everyday for exercise because she has a hard time walking. She joined the YMCA about a mile from her house. She received a membership for free due to her age and she was on Medicare. The elders caught wind of this and told her she needed to stop going. It wasnt too much longer after that we were having a discussion and a sister who is of the anointed spoke up and told the elderly sister to ignore what the elders were saying and keep swimming at the YMCA.
