2022 JW Convention

I have 3 sons. When they were growing up I explained to them that Jehovah expected sex only in his marital arrangement and unmarried men and women alike weren't supposed to transgress that order. So, straight unmarried people and gay people were all held to the same standard - there wasn't a special punishment for the gays. Forgiveness was always possible no matter how many times people failed to live up to Jehovah's standard. Doesn't it say so in Matt 18:21, 22? The idea Bro. Lett has that people will be resurrected will all the issues they had before adamic death doesn't sit well with me. That would make paradise full of murderers, thieves and psychopaths as well. He's off.
Plus, if people were so far into what they were that they embrace it, then they wouldn't be resurrected.

Sorry. I was not trying to pick on you.
I just took the opportunity to rebut a common JW belief that everything Paul said came from the holy spirit.

The same goes for the common JW belief that 2 Timothy 3:16 applies to the Greek scriptures.
That verse is referring to the Hebrew scriptures, as the previous verse shows.
In all 53 instance in the Greek text where "scripture(s)" are referred to, they all refer to the Hebrew scriptures.

:)
I get that and appreciate the point. The main impetus of what I was expressing about that which of Paul likely having been married as a member of the Sanhedrin, you're more than welcome to comment on too.

We saw a documentary once. This speaker stated that scientist don’t know what causes people to be or become homosexual. He did state however that those wanting to be christians can not act upon these feelings, the bible makes that very clear. So in their case, if they are truly sincere they have to live a life of abstinence for now. After Armageddon Jehovah will surely help people to get rid of these feelings.
I have compassion for those with homosexual desires. I know a brother that struggles with it. That's just the way he is wired. He wishes he could flip a switch and be "normal". It's really quite sad actually. He is the most generous and caring brother in the congregation. Always assisting the elderly. Before Covid he was putting pioneer hours but not as a pioneer. The body won't let him hold that title due to indiscretions in the past many years ago. Wants to be a servant but that will never happen. Me thinks somebody that has been successful carrying that burden for so long would be a compassionate Elder.

I type with one finger on a tablet and whenever I’ve already hit post, I find a world of typos 😂

I have Robert’s book. I just need more time to sit and read quietly and meditate about the content. It’s not exactly a recent WT study, it’s a big meal, you gotta chew 😂
You probably already know but each chapter is on audio too at https://jehovah-is-king.com/.

Thank you !! I sometimes feel that I was the only one that noticed that. (then I feel weird)

The GB has much to learn about forgiveness and mercy.

I had a sister get me into essential oils recently and there were soooo many parallels between the marketing they teach you and the marketing wt teaches. It absolutely is a mlm scheme!
Back in the 80's there was a big push into getting people (corporate training and development) into Toastmasters to refine public speaking skills. I was surprised to see that the timing, study points etc., were identical to what we were using in the meetings back then. There was no doubt in my mind from where it was pirated.

Yeah, it’s never been this clear, has it? It’s no religion anymore, it’s a cult!

Yeah, it’s never been this clear, has it? It’s no religion anymore, it’s a cult!

Yes, it looks like they have become a cult. And no christianity is not religion, it's true worship to Jehovah, and according to God's express will, to Christ too. Religion requires formalism.

Jesus said to her, “Believe me, woman, the hour is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. You people worship what you do not understand; we worship what we understand, because salvation is from the Jews. But the hour is coming, and is now here, when true worshipers will worship the Father in Spirit and truth; and indeed the Father seeks such people to worship him. God is Spirit, and those who worship him must worship in Spirit and truth.” The woman said to him, “I know that the Messiah is coming, the one called the Anointed; when he comes, he will tell us everything.” Jesus said to her, “I am he, the one who is speaking with you.”
John 4:21‭-‬26

The Jewish law had formalism but it was allowed by god as symbolism for the future. Nobody could be saved by the law anyway.

"But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, though testified to by the law and the prophets, the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction; all have sinned and are deprived of the glory of God."
Romans 3:21‭-‬23

"For what does the scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.” A worker’s wage is credited not as a gift, but as something due. But when one does not work, yet believes in the one who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited as righteousness. So also David declares the blessedness of the person to whom God credits righteousness apart from works: “Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven and whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord does not record.”
Romans 4:3‭-‬8

Faith comes through knowledge and requires critical thinking Rom. 10:17

"See that no one repays another with evil for evil, but always seek what is good for one another and for all people. Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus. Do not quench the Spirit, do not utterly reject prophecies, but examine everything; hold firmly to that which is good, abstain from every form of evil."
1 Thessalonians 5:15‭-‬22

"Let us, then, who are “perfectly mature” adopt this attitude. And if you have a different attitude, this too God will reveal to you. Only, with regard to what we have attained, continue on the same course. Wrong Conduct and Our Goal.
Philippians 3:15‭-‬16

For you were called for freedom, brothers. But do not use this freedom as an opportunity for the flesh; rather, serve one another through love.
Galatians 5:13

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. By their fruits you will know them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? Just so, every good tree bears good fruit, and a rotten tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a rotten tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire. So by their fruits you will know them. The True Disciple."
Matthew 7:7‭-‬8‭, ‬16‭-‬20

Beautiful scriptures! I need to make sure all those are highlighted in my Bible!

It's funny how they talk about all these things for the future and then oh but this and that was fulfilled back in 1919, there was a horse and buggy and a funny top hat caught on fire thats the sign of fire from the heavens I tell you.
