Open Question From A Reader: When do the 42 Months Begin and End?

So, it's the good news of the kingdom first, then the bad news for resisters of the kingdom. So, there will no longer be any chance for any to choose God's Kingdom at that time once the 42 months begins.?
I know Revelation shows us that those who are marked with 666 are certainly doomed to the second death, correct? And it seems that accepting the mark is a deliberate choice. I guess everyone who has accepted God's kingdom will already have become those who are called the great crowd who come out of the great tribulation, prior to the start of the 3.5 yrs, or 42 months.
I wouldn’t jump to that conclusion but I don’t know. Perhaps it is up until Armageddon when the great crowd at least will be able to heed the warning, but I don’t know. The chosen ones will be already in place by then and so they are sealed. But I can only guess that the great crowd could still choose until the final execution.

Sounds about right to me....

Here’s my question. For any who have the mark of the beast, that is something you cannot repent for. But what I’m wondering is, if the 3.5 years of prophesying could be an opportunity to those who really do not know the truth but can now see that the chosen are the real deal and those same ones have not yet taken the mark of the beast and they choose the side of God’s Kingdom during that 3.5 years? Just a question that I have. What makes me wonder that is the pattern set in the first century. The prospect of being anointed/rulers was first open to the Jewish nation but for the most part they rejected Jesus and so it was then opened to the Gentiles. The parable of the marriage feast where people begged off. Could it be similar for the great crowd. The opportunity to be a part of the great crowd should be more likely with Jehovah’s Witnesses but because they have made the GB into an idol, some may actually take the mark of the beast, but could the 3.5 years of prophesying then open up the great crowd to non-witnesses who take sides with God’s Kingdom. My speculating.

the great crowd who come out of the great tribulation, prior to the start of the 3.5 yrs, or 42 months.
Is it still being said that the 'great tribulation' is before the 42-months? I thought Posstot showed Scriptures (Lu 21:20-24) that show that is not the case. The 'great tribulation' is the time 'Jerusalem is trampled for the appointed times, 42-months.'

Luke 21: 20 “However, when you see Jerusalem surrounded by encamped armies,+ then know that the desolating of her has drawn near.+ 21 Then let those in Ju·deʹa begin fleeing to the mountains,+ let those in the midst of her leave, and let those in the countryside not enter into her, 22 because these are days for meting out justice* in order that all the things written may be fulfilled. 23 Woe to the pregnant women and those nursing a baby in those days!+ For there will be great distress on the land and wrath against this people. 24 And they will fall by the edge of the sword and be led captive into all the nations;+ and Jerusalem will be trampled on by the nations* until the appointed times of the nations* are fulfilled.+

Rev 11: 2 But as for the courtyard that is outside the temple sanctuary, leave it out and do not measure it, because it has been given to the nations, and they will trample the holy city+ underfoot for 42 months.+

Matt 24: 15 “Therefore, when you catch sight of the disgusting thing that causes desolation, as spoken about by Daniel the prophet, standing in a holy place+ (let the reader use discernment), 16 then let those in Ju·deʹa begin fleeing to the mountains.+ 17 Let the man on the housetop not come down to take the goods out of his house, 18 and let the man in the field not return to pick up his outer garment. 19 Woe to the pregnant women and those nursing a baby in those days! 20 Keep praying that your flight may not occur in wintertime nor on the Sabbath day; 21 for then there will be great tribulation+ such as has not occurred since the world’s beginning until now, no, nor will occur again.+ 22 In fact, unless those days were cut short, no flesh would be saved; but on account of the chosen ones those days will be cut short.+

This means the great crowd comes out of the 42-months being that is the time of the great tribulation. During the 42-months, since it is said that is when they are refined, that must be the time they wash their robes clean. Also, since Jesus is said to come after the tribulation, then that means he comes after the 42-months.

14 So right away I said to him: “My lord, you are the one who knows.” And he said to me: “These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation,+ and they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.+

29 “Immediately after the tribulation of those days, the sun will be darkened,+ and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.+ 30 Then the sign of the Son of man will appear in heaven, and all the tribes of the earth will beat themselves in grief,+ and they will see the Son of man+ coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.+ 31 And he will send out his angels with a great trumpet sound, and they will gather his chosen ones together from the four winds, from one extremity of the heavens to their other extremity.+

Well, Posstot has a bit of a unique perspective on some things.
I don't think it so much Posstot's perspective, but rather what the Bible states. They only cited the Scriptures. If you compare the accounts of Luke 21: 20-24 and Matthew 24:29-22, and that Luke 21: 23, 24 says that that time is when Jerusalem in trampled for the appointed times, then is that not the way we should understand it?

Also, if we compare what Driven said about a massive sifting and refining of all Christians during a time of great distress. Isn't that the time that Luke said Jerusalem will be trampled?

I don’t understand your points. So, I am asking to clarify. Are you asking if the Great Tribulation is the same time period as the 42 months, correct? I think we have to remember that there is a period of time for the harvest of the wheat and the removal of the weeds. So, I don’t think the 42 months can start until the chosen can ”prophesy”. I think that separating work (wheat and weeds) must be completed first, which as I understand takes place during the Great Tribulation. Does this make sense? I don’t see that the scriptures above contradict this understanding. Luke and Matthew do not state anything about the 42 months. Revelation does speak of the 42 months but I don’t see that that changes anything.

@Bklyn Kevin: So, if there is anyone that we know, who hasn't heard the Good News of the Kingdom, NOW IS THE TIME to preach the Good News of the Kingdom, before it's too late🕰....Matthew 24:14 📖

@Driven: Robert doesn't indicate that he thinks that there will be an open opportunity during the 42 months, but, Driven, I have also wondered about your question above. I don't think we should count on it, let me put it that way; in my humble opinion.

Revelation 21:6 And he said to me: “They have come to pass! I am the Alʹpha and the O·meʹga, the beginning and the end. To anyone thirsting I will give from the spring of the water of life free.

Revelation 22:17 And the spirit and the bride keep on saying, “Come!” and let anyone hearing say, “Come!” and let anyone thirsting come; let anyone who wishes take life’s water free.

According to the verses you cited, look at verse 14. That would suggest that they will be under Jehovah's protection for the duration through until the smoke clears after Armageddon.

Here is a quote from Robert’s article previously referenced by BrooklynKevin and see Matthew 24:29:

“That the tribulation does not immediately lead into Armageddon is evident from the fact that Jesus referred to events occurring “immediately after the tribulation in those days.” Its being cut short means that the nations will be allowed to recover momentarily. That is what is symbolized by the beast crawling out of the abyss, by the mortally wounded head that miraculously revives. In the aftermath of the tribulation Revelation depicts the angels holding back the four winds of destruction. Why? In order that the sealing of the chosen ones may be finished. Jesus indicated as much when he said after the tribulation the great trumpet will sound and the chosen ones will be gathered.

It is at that point in Revelation chapter seven that we are introduced to the 144,000 and the great crowd who come out of the tribulation. That is what Jesus meant when he said “on account of the chosen ones,” so that they may be sealed. That the great crowd comes out of the tribulation means that from that point on salvation for anyone on the outside is impossible. That is where the weeping and gnashing of their teeth will be.

It is after their sealing that the chosen ones are impelled to embark upon the final witness, portrayed in Revelation by John receiving the little scroll and being told by Christ to “prophesy again about peoples and nations and tongues and many kings.”

After the final witness is given concerning the then-established Kingdom, then the end will come.”

So, the bible accounts you quoted do mention the great tribulation and the time of the 42 months that the 2 prophets prophesy but I don’t see that they are the same time period but in fact it appears to me from Matthew 24:29 that the Great Tribulation precedes the 42 months, which is why Matthew 24:29 says immediately after the tribulation in those days.

The appointed times of the nations is the period when the 'nations' are allowed to 'met out justice'.

Is Jerusalem trampled on by the nations during the time of 'great distress'?
Are the 'appointed times', 42-months?

Luke 21: 22 because these are days for meting out justice* in order that all the things written may be fulfilled.

Daniel 12:11,12, " And from the time the constant feature has been removed and the disgusting thing causing desolation has been put in place there will be 1,290 days. Happy are those who keepin expectation of the 1,335 days!" Have fun with that: One lovely sister some time ago argued maybe the overlapping 75 days could be the duration of the tribulation.......Good one isn't it.....Let's keep on the watch!

I agree, because the time of 'desolating,' 'trampling,' 'meeting out justice' and 'great necessity' in Lu 21:20-24 is the same as the 'great tribulation' in Mat 24:15-22, which therefore means that there will be a 42 month long tribulation on 'Jerusalem' immediately before the return of Christ for His presence.

But since the tribulation is by the nations, it cannot be upon the nations, for the NWO beast does not persecute itself, or those having its mark, but only adherents to Christianity, which is why the great tribulation can only come once the beast has already revived from its sword stroke and is in full global power.

Tribulation means targeted persecution, not indiscriminate suffering by the whole population brought on by war etc, where everybody is equally affected.

This tribulation results from trampling, however, the sword stoke on the beast is not caused by gradual trampling, but in a single, devastating hit, perhaps by total financial collapse or WW3.

This great tribulation is also referred to by Paul in 2 Thes 1:6-10, where the tribulation on Christians is finished at the revelation of Jesus on the clouds of heaven, when they are glorified with Him as immortal spirits and 'caught away in the clouds' in that very instant, like the blinking of an eye; hence, all their preaching and persecution has to happen prior to the return of Christ, as far as I can tell. 1 Thes 4:15-17

It’s possible and I hope I can see for sure soon.

Reading Re 13, it looks like the beast ascends out of the sea only in the Lord's day, or loosely in our time, which therefore may not have quite happened yet, because it is said to be given 'authority over every nation,' which is not ostensibly in evidence yet, although strangely it seems that some invisible hand is causing the whole world to go along with this covid / vax nonsense, even if it is against their national interest to do so, which could be this incipient beast that is yet to receive its sword stroke and from which it then needs to recover to full power again; unfortunately, this seems to involve still quite some time, but we are definitely already off to a bad start with this global covid scam, but 'the end is not yet.'

The appointed times of the nations is the period when the 'nations' are allowed to 'met out justice'. This 'justice' is firstly against the 'house of God' as judgment starts with the house of God. But the tribulation comes upon all the world too, is my understanding. It's a trial, a test on all mankind. That is my understanding. I could be wrong, but that's how I see it, as learned from Robert King and my own study of Scripture.
I thought the appointed times of the nations was from the time the eighth King appeared until the Christ destroyed him?
